Animation codec tends to be a favorite for sharing with Avid.

I believe there’s a typewriter, or type on text tool in FCP. Certainly in Livetype.
There’s a typewriter sound effect in the Soundtrack Pro library. Just cut it in as the letters appear.

It’s not an FCP issue, its a hardware issue – your drives simply cannot playback your video.
How did you ingest this footage without a card?

I’ve worked at places where the opposite was true. “Hey, check out the candidate – he showed up in a suit!” My rule of thumb has been to wear the nicest set of threads that you’d wear on the job. Do your editors wear suits to work?
Also – how’d you end up interviewing nine people with no professional editing experience for your edit gig? I always thought the competition was a lot thicker than that….

Quickest was to duplicate in a sequence is to opt-drag. Hold shift to constrain to vertical moves.

Certification is good if you’re on a more of a technical path – as a engineer, system builder, on-line editor.
If you’re an editor, no one really cares if you can use the software – unless it starts to affect your work, of course.

Change the value of the “Distort” setting in the “Motion” tab.
Once you’ve got it right, Paste Attributes to apply it to all the clips that need to be fixed.

You got the AE/FCP workflow down – use AE to take your odd sized stills and make a video ready QT – 1080p (24 or 30) would be fine.
Not sure of the best way to proceed without AE. You will need to transcode to a video format somehow…

If you export, for example, ProRes format QTs from After Effects, you can then do the editing in Final Cut.
Build you animation shot by shot in AE, and then sequence them in FCP. Thats the way I like to work.
