im afraid your right, that it is coming down to it.
where i work at harvard, i am not only in charge of editing, dvd production, etc, i also am learning how to manage our webserver, etc.
lot more than just editing, these days.

dude, 100 dollar everything would rule!
my last film only cost 600 bucks, and got into some pretty awesome short film festivals, including cinequest, its amazing how far you really can stretch cash if you try!

you could cotnact the people that have the rights and ask them for a copy, somehow, i bet they’ll charge you!

i just captured 10 hours of footage shot by a band on the road, shot in 32k audio, and only had one tape go out of sync. (digitized it in hour long segments, and digitized it to 48k.)
its really finnicky

hmm….more than likely yo uare looking at your picture squished….
the only thing to “do” is to edit in a 4×3 timeline, so that your footage is letterboxed…..but that may tax your system a bit….and you’ll eventually have to render it out, and your final project will be 4×3 letterboxed instead of 16×9…

hmm, you need really big lights(like, really big) to shoot day for night, so you can stop down on the camera, yet still expose faces/people correctly.
its a pretty hard feat to pull off and trick people, and it won’t save you any money….you can also mess with the white balance in the camera, try to whitebalance with different gels, and see what happens….
anyone else, i think the point i am trying to make is that it won’t save you cash at all, and just give you a big headache in editing….
i think if your really gung ho about this, shoot the shots with your actors day for night, closeups, etc, then return at nightand shoot wide shots…..just try not to make it look like batman forever nighttime…..nightime is black, not blue.
check out the movie collateral, that was all shot on HD, at night, with very ambient, small, lighting. looks fantastic, least in my opinion.

yeah, seriously, i mean, how DIFFERENT can the new powermac be, of the imac is handling sooo much. and the only reason they aren’t as small as the mini’s is that they h ave to case a screen.
honestly…..in the future i see apple making mini’s, imacs, and laptops. everythign else is just going to fit into one of those catagories.

he should probably just shoot it DV then.
cause, hate to say it, the only thing different in an HD camera, than a dv camera is the tape pickup. the lense and chip are pretty much the same.
it’ll be cheaper, adn the product will be more hasselfree.

seriously….use vegas video….its amazing with still images.
very amazing, ive done some rad work in vegas with stills, that i’ve never been able to re-create in fcp.
