I use the same workflow though with an ultrastudio mini monitor, which is not capable of loading luts. Just tried using color finale in FCPX to load the display lut that resolve uses and put it on an adjustment layer above my whole timeline, works fine.

June 23, 2016 at 6:27 pm in reply to: FCP X and Blackmagic Ultra Studio Express dropped framesI have yet to test Resolve 12.5, but 12 works relatively well in 10.4.3 for me, aside from some crashes on delivery (I tend to unplug my monitor for this, though not sure if it’s related to Desktop Video). And in theory, though it depends on the way you work, you could roll back and forth between different FW versions depending on what software you’re using. But it feels a little ridiculous to even suggest something like that, as a paying customer of BMD I find it unacceptable to have this level of unaddressed dysfunction.

June 22, 2016 at 7:50 pm in reply to: FCP X and Blackmagic Ultra Studio Express dropped framesI think it’s a BMD thing, as earlier versions of their firmware is still stable in FCPX. Just an FYI–I’ve spoken with BMD support a bunch about it, and it’s now a known issue. I’ve been told the product managers are going to address this “in some future update”.
For now 10.4.3 on El Capitan is very stable for me in FCPX. Only crashes like once a day.

February 20, 2016 at 6:39 pm in reply to: FCP X and Blackmagic Ultra Studio Express dropped framesI’ve also been having issues with FCP X and an ultrastudio mini monitor on a 27″ 2012 iMac. Seems to be worse though, FCP X will frequently crash when skimming or after playing back. At first I thought it was just a problem with my system, but then I noticed that the same issues were occurring on an identical system. Interestingly, no issues on non-2012 iMacs that otherwise are identical.
I’ve rolled back to Desktop Video 10.5. Seems to be pretty stable in FCP X, however now I’m having crashes on delivery in Resolve unless I unplug my ultrastudio.

Searching through the forum trying to do the same thing as Jesse, I’m wondering if anyone knows of any advances in marker technology in the past 2 years since this was posted…?

Just found a solution. Plug in found here: https://alex4d.wordpress.com/2009/08/17/fcp-plugin-text-crawl/ has a speed control along with a variety of other options.

In addition, I just actually came across another problem–I don’t know if anyone has input on this–I was able to change the speed of a text clip made with the Boris Title Crawl generator using the basic FCP speed control (after I reached the clip limit, which seems to be 2:00;04). I then tried doing the same thing on a second text clip, and when I applied the speed change the text just seems to disappear. Anyone have experience with this?

Hey Alexis,
I am trying to work with a large amount of text that would be too cumbersome to animate with motion, I am working with the text crawl function which moves text ticker style across the screen. My text is in discrete sections though and I am looking for a precise control to standardize the crawl speed of the different sections of text, as it seems the speed is determined as a default by the clip length and amount of text. I want to make clip length variable and control for speed, I don’t believe that motion can do this.

Just want to bump this, having trouble finding if anyone’s answered this anywhere else and I’m having the same problem. Can view markers in the browser in one project and for some reason not another. Ctrl-click the clip isn’t really doing it for me because I’ve been marking the clips but would like to be able to see the markers from all the other clips in my sequence simultaneously.
Anyone know anything about this?
