sequence markers not visible in browser
Posted by Jaap Van hoewijk on February 11, 2010 at 4:17 pmHi,
I tried for hours to get to see my sequence markers in the browser. Nothing works. I’d like to see, just when adding a marker to a clip, a list of markers underneath a sequence in the browser. Thanks, JaapJoy Endicott replied 12 years, 5 months ago 6 Members · 6 Replies -

As far as I know this isn’t possible. Sounds like a sensible feature request though.
Can anyone else confirm or deny whether this is possible?

February 12, 2010 at 8:19 amI found some sort of solution. Control + click in the upper timeline display of the sequence window. You’ll get all your sequence markers listed. So displaying the sequence markers in the browser seems impossible, but this works.

December 12, 2010 at 9:26 pmSorry to drag this old thread back to life, but I’m confused and could use help.
I have long interview clips captured to HDD and imported to FCP 7. I preview the clips in the viewer window, tagging in and out for an answer, moving the playhead to the mid point of the selected part and hit m m to create a marker and pull up the marker edit dialogue. Then I drag that answer to my timeline.
I create a slightly shortened version of the interview (because I’m deleting the off-camera questions, and skipping some flubbed answers all together) and more important I now have a series of markers with a brief summary of the answer. So far, all good …
Question: How come sometimes this results in an option in the browser to hit a down arrow that appears beside the long interview source clip that will reveal all the markers, with names and timecode … and other times it doesn’t. Right now I have four sequences in an FCP project, and each is essentially the same structure — long clip chopped down, with a marker for each chopped clip to explain content. They are NOT sequence markers, so don’t show up in the canvas, they are clip markers so do show up in the viewer. But only one of the four also has the down arrow & reveal in the browser option.
Help please!? I’d like the down arrow in each of the source clips in the browser.
Cheers,

January 31, 2012 at 12:57 amJust want to bump this, having trouble finding if anyone’s answered this anywhere else and I’m having the same problem. Can view markers in the browser in one project and for some reason not another. Ctrl-click the clip isn’t really doing it for me because I’ve been marking the clips but would like to be able to see the markers from all the other clips in my sequence simultaneously.
Anyone know anything about this?

March 4, 2012 at 10:37 pmHi Jaap,
I just hit a similar problem in FCP7. I was using markers to log certain sections of a clip and for some reason it would only display about 8 of the markers. Any new markers I added would somehow not appear in the browser. As though there were an invisible line in the middle of the browser and any clips below that would not appear. Interestingly when I tried using the up/down arrows to show less or more in the browser window, some of my markers would disappear below the “invisible line” when I tried to show more. This definitely feels like a bug in the software. However when I played around with the ‘view options’ (right click) and selected view as icons and then back to view as list + increasing the font size, this seemed to clear the bug and I can now view all of my markers. Try increasing the font size of the text in your browser and see if that works. Worked for me… good luck! -

THANKS! This worked on my FCP7.
It does seem to be a bug. In previous projects I was able to drag the clip from the timeline to the viewer and the clip would have a “reveal arrow” next to it. Clicking the arrow would show the markers.
The new project didn’t act the same, but your suggestion made it work!
Merci!
