What does that have to do with Final Cut Pro X? Very unclear about what you’re doing, or want to do. Are you recording TV shows? How are you recording them? Are you “legally” recording them?

Hub vs Chain, should work out to be the same, since they’re all still going to the same, single USB port on the Mac itself. I’ve never seen one operate faster than the others.

Don’t bother with optimized or proxy unless you MUST do it to have enough decent playback to edit with, simple as that. I’ve never had to optimize or proxy anything in all my years editing. And turn off Background Rendering, that will create render files constantly that will bloat the heck out of your Library. It’s a flawed system, that Background Rendering.

First, turn off background rendering, and never turn it back on.

Second, select the Library in the Browser, from the File menu “Delete All Generated Media” and from there delete all render files. (Or just purchase Final Cut Library Manager.)

Never trash anything inside the Library bundle manually (again, get Final Cut Library Manager), very bad idea, unless you really know what you’re doing.

Do you still have the original media? Where is it? When you go to the Viewer menu, are you set to use optimized/original or proxy media? Make sure you set to use optimized/original media.

What do you mean by “transcode it”? Do you mean export it to a file? Not sure what you mean there, or what is dimmed.

I’m in my 60s and learn new stuff all the time, that’s not an excuse. If you hate magnetic timeline, stop using FCPX. The more you try to force it to be like tracks, the more frustrated and limited you’ll be. Learn it, use it, it’ll cut your editing time in half. If you are unwilling to do that, please, for your own sanity, stop using FCPX.

You create a keyframe in AE or anything else, nothing changes until you make another keyframe down that timeline, very simple, all apps do this. Copy/Paste keyframes is in all apps, so go do a tutorial or read the manual and learn how to do it.

If you compare an NLE to a compositing and FX app, apples to onion, buddy, stop.

“Reset Parameters” does just that, 100% of the time, no bugs.

Seriously, go do a tutorial, it all works just fine, I do it every day, no issues.

Addressing your specific problem, you’re a tad confusing, can you be more clear about what you’re trying to do? Copy/Paste keyframes? FCPX’s copy and Paste Attributes does that really well. So where the issue?

Cmd with the plus and minus keys zooms in and out of window, Shift-Z fits to window, use that in the Timeline pane. Strongly suggest you invest a minor bit of time in tutorials, like at macProVideo.com.

Strongly suggest doing an FCPX training, and forget how other NLEs work, FCPX isn’t the same thing, at all. Try this article.

MotionVFX, CoreMelt, FxFactory, Industrial Revolution, lots of folks make lots of templates for Motion. Just start shopping around. Also, at fcp.co there’s a forum where folks post free templates they’ve made themselves.

FYI, I know lots of folks who jump between AE and Motion daily for a living…
