I’d need to see a screen shot. But I can tell you the Browser copy will not have any of the work you’ve done in a Timeline. Once you drop media into a Timeline (Project, Compound, Sync, etc) it becomes an independent copy.

So are you placing this inside of a Project timeline and trying to open it from there?

Do you see a Compound or Layered icon at the top left of the clip?

  • You can change the size of the clone layer independently of the parent.

The stock blur filter should be built-in to your template. I’ve made this before and it worked fine for me.

OH, AND FCPX won’t let you “leave in place” if it thinks the files are on a camera card, they’ll copy to the library anyway.

There are two places to specify this preference. One is the Import Window (Cmd-i) which acts as such ONLY when using the Import Window. The second place is in Settings, which ONLY acts on items imported via drag-and-drop.

Could all be done in FCPX and Motion. I’d look for some plugins of animated stuff, there’s a bunch of it around. A lot of masking, some tracking, but all doable in FCPX and Motion. And some special color grading for stylized looks, too. Not something that I could explain in a forum post. Email me if you want, benb at bbalser dot you know what. Things like the eyes and stuff could very easily be done with PaintX from Coremelt. The snake and spiders I’d look for some pre-animated images to composite in. You may need to find an animator to do it for you, maybe. Just to get them drawn out. Some “stutter” effects from Motion. Could be done, a lot of work, but you’ll not do it all from a simple plugin.

  • This is done in the effects used to place vertical videos into a horizontal video aspect ration. Plenty on the market, and I’ve made it myself in Motion, very easy. Based on the example you’ve given, here’s where I’d start.

You’ll create a Drop Zone, then make a Clone Layer of that below it. Stretch the Clone layer our, or enlarge it. Then apply a Directional Blur to that and crank it up really high. Publish the desired parameters. Publish as a generator, which is what I’d do. You could probably do this in some way as a Title that you can just drop on top of a clip for the same effect, also.

  • So when you imported your media, where was it originally? You have something FCP is looking for and can’t find the original of. You could try to change the storage location to Library and do a Consolidate command.

It’s not the M1 they have to keep up with, it’s the FxPlug API, which updates very often, and makes it difficult.

I beta test for several 3rd party developers, and am a retired IT manger for software companies. I can tell you that Apple has made it more and more difficult for 3rd party developers to keep up. As for beta versions, don’t compare full apps with plugins, like apples to onions. Plugins depend on the app’s API, which for FCPX is FxPlug, which gets updated faster than many developers can keep up. As for developers using beta versions of FCPX, it is difficult, because during beta testing, bugs are found, coding is changed to fix them, and those changes can break what a developer just coded to keep up to date. It is difficult, and the lates FCPX updated FxPlug with a huge update that introduced a bunch of issues for 3rd party developers.

Audio is recorded in “sample per second” not in “frames per second” so we need the sample rate of the audio. And since audio is not measured in frames per second, I have to question where you’re getting this information from.
