As this is an ‘international’ forum, what is ‘Spring’?
To us down under thats over 6 months away.
Why can’t people use ‘month of year’ rather than seasons; its not all about the ‘northern hemisphere’; or are most folk not aware of other places on this planet.

  • Well this is my opinion…

    Apple should have –

    1. Release FCPX as iMovie Pro

    2. Continued development of Final Cut Pro

    3. Eventually have iMovie Pro replace Final Cut Pro (6 years…?)

The effect would have been –

    1. This would not have alienated a captured professional market

    2. Prevented large amounts of cash going off to the competitors

    3. Allow the next generation of editors to respect Apple as a Pro App supporter

    4. Maintain a continued market for the Mac line of computers

You can add many others but I am trying to be brief here.

What I fail to understand is that if Apple have sooooo much money why did they choose the path they did? Is it because they thought they we so great they could do anything they wanted and the people would follow?

Remember, the Roman Empire was once great and they fell; I suspect for similar reasons why Apple will one day (soon) be filing for a divorce with the rest of the world. Pride will be their demise.

  • [George Budoloski] “Is it possible to run hyperdeck with media express?”

Yes – using rs422 deck control and a capture device, or play the Hyperdeck captured media in Media Express

[George Budoloski] “can I work the media in hyperdeck or media express through the media players in the ATEM 1 computer software?”

No – The ATEM media players use ‘image sequence’ files so you would have to convert them. (also, the Media players only allow for short duration media)

I think you need to research the combo a little more as there is a very specific role the Hyperdeck plays when used with the ATEM.

  • [George Budoloski] ” Is it possible to record live shows to the hyperdeck from AT#M 1?”

    A. Yes

How… ? HDSDI out of ATEM into HDSDI of Hyperdeck. But, don’t forget to put SSD’s into the slots…..

August 13, 2012 at 11:22 pm in reply to: Avid MC 6.0.3 and Blackmagic HD extreme issue!

If you ask Avid they will tell you that you have to pay a service fee and then after many hundreds of dollars they will tell you it’s a Blackmagic problem.
Then you enter a loop. Blackmagic will tell you its an Avid problem…. bla bla bla…

The only one that has a problem is the user because every one else has their money.

I am having the same issues with Avid/Blackmagic and capture/playout timecode accuracy. Seems it must be MY problem because I paid and can’t get a refund.

July 22, 2012 at 1:33 am in reply to: Capturing DVC Pro HD footage using Firewire

If you turn off ‘abort capture’ you will get dropped frames in your clip.

This can be seen by selecting the captured clip and going

“Tools > Long Frames > mark”

This will put markers anywhere there is a dropped frame. If everything is OK there will only be 1 marker right at the very start. Any more than 1 then there is a problem.

Also remember when capturing DVCProHD via Firewire you are actually capturing @ 60 frames per second which is the natural framerate. You then need to use the built in framerate converter in FCP.
