Hey Red… ‘features rushed’ is an interesting observation… I think you will find they haven’t put as much manpower into PPro 2 as they have in the past… they wanted to upgrade their whole product line and had to do something to make it a ‘2’.

I need it mainly for 10 bit rendering. All the major international QC departments now have the new Tektronix compression measuring unit which sounds major alarms when it detects 8 bit in an SDI stream…. I gotta be legal!!!!!
(btw.. stand back when it detects DVCAM!!!!!)

You will find that if you do a clean XP/Encore install (on a new drive) it will work OK. I had a very similar problem with 3 different computers and neither Compaq, Microsoft or Adobe could help. I eventually built a stand alone computer just for DLT mastering.

Go to video filters “adjust” and apply a ‘brightness & Contrast’ filter set to zero and see if that fixes it.

I have a few Panasonic DMR-E20 DVD recorders (circa 2003) and they record fine via firewire from any computer….

What you need to do to get to the root of the problem is to try and simplify the installation. I suggest you remove the Decklink card and try Premiere in native DV mode and see if it crashes (you must try for a while, not just a couple of minutes). If it does crash then there is a problem with your computer which will require you to go down the unplug/reinstall path.
If Premiere does NOT crash with the DL card unplugged then plug it back in and try the same DV PROJECT and see if it crashes. If it does crash then there is a problem with the DL card/drivers. If it doesn’t crash then there is a problem with Premiere or DL drivers/plugins.

Is there a common point where Premiere crashes?.. like when you apply a filter…? or when you try to export… ? Maybe watch your VM while editing and see if it continues to climb (indicating a memory leak of some kind)

(BTW… DL does not necesarily require SP2)

Jaromir… try applying a premiere filter like “bightness/contrast” set to zero (null effect) and see it that fixes it.
