Posted by Redgum on January 23, 2006 at 10:17 amAnyone know how to upgrade to Prem Pro v2 outside North America? (For instance Australia).
Nothing shows up in Google of Adobe Asia/Pacific and my email to Adobe has no response.Redgum Television Productions

January 23, 2006 at 11:33 amGood luck, the only way I can see is purchasing from a third party, ie. CSW, HT etc. The Adobe site does not appear to offer the option.
This also happened with the PPro 1.5 upgrade, not on the site, but availalbe by phone.

Same problem, they only upgrade the suite. I only want to upgrade Prem Pro v2.

January 24, 2006 at 5:43 amG’day Baz,
You must have more influence than me. I rang Adobe in Sydney this morning. Here’s the response I posted over at the Adobe forum…“The phone works fine, it’s just the Adobe staff at the other end that are blank.
I phoned Adobe in Sydney who promptly referred me to their website for on-line ordering. Went to the site and of course there is no mention of Prem Pro v2. Phoned back Adobe, got the same person, and she told me it should be there. I asked her to check and she came back and said it wasn’t on their website. I asked her how I could order the upgrade and she told me it could only be done over the phone. I asked her for the upgrade phone number and she told me I was already speaking to her. I asked her if I could order the upgrade and she said NO! I could only do that when stocks arrived in about four weeks.
Jokingly I asked her if I could upgrade my Canopus Raptor card for a superseded Canopus Storm card. She asked me to hold whilst she enquired. I hung up the phone.
There must be a moral to this story. Perhaps I should do a doco on Adobe service worldwide.”Redgum Television Productions

January 24, 2006 at 12:18 pmYeah, but it’s not fair that I got her twice!
After playing with the demo the urge has diminished. Got a sneaking feeling something else big is going to happen at NAB. Adobe are pushing too hard and everything looks rushed. Features aren’t features really and the HDV thing is a packet of bulldust. What a retrograde step. You also prbably noticed that V2 has been designed out of dual screens. Made for single screen. I’m suspicious!Redgum Television Productions

January 24, 2006 at 11:26 pmHey Red… ‘features rushed’ is an interesting observation… I think you will find they haven’t put as much manpower into PPro 2 as they have in the past… they wanted to upgrade their whole product line and had to do something to make it a ‘2’.
I need it mainly for 10 bit rendering. All the major international QC departments now have the new Tektronix compression measuring unit which sounds major alarms when it detects 8 bit in an SDI stream…. I gotta be legal!!!!!
(btw.. stand back when it detects DVCAM!!!!!) -

January 25, 2006 at 3:10 pmBaz – “Features rushed” refers more to a marketing ploy by Adobe. Sort of “How can we sell this product?” And I totally agree with your premise that this release was a catch-up. That would be fine if it wasn’t price and package related.
I mainly deal with the US cable market and free to air in Oz plus a bit out of Asia (doco’s) and providing the content is exciting can get away with VHS bumped up to Digibeta. (well almost) Shoot and edit HDV and deliver on Digibeta except in the US who prefer DVCAMRedgum Television Productions
