  • I have now installed Encore 2 on my computer that had Encore 1.5 which NEVER saw the DLT 4000. Encore 2 see’s it fine and writes to it OK. I have not changed anything else on the system. So… this begs the question… did I pay for a bug fix? Isn’t that a little un-ethical?

[Shane Chadder] “I thought ProVTR is the plugin that Adobe uses in 2.0?”

I think its very loosely based… the GUI is totally different and be careful… IT DEFAULTS TO ASSEMBLE EDIT!!!!

I get problems if i have the capture window open and then close it and try to export to tape. If I just scrub the timeline a little and then go to export it doesn’t come up with that error.

But my ProVTR 7.1 works flawlessly with PPro 2.0 as it did with PPro 1.5….

Hey Mike… it sounds like you are using the PPro 2.0 RS422 deck control… it has lots of bugs as you have discovered. If you have Pipeline Pro VTR plug in then copy it into the PPro 2 plugin folder and use it as your deck control and avoid the Premiere one.

For producer playouts I usually add timecode to each clip for source display and just below it I add timeline timecode as a transparency clip.
This way the producer has an idea where each shot originated from if they need to find alternate/extra shots and can timeline reference it for me.

Finally we are getting close to linear editing workflow advantages.

We are using Decklink Extreme’s with DV. We capture using a firewire card and edit using PPro 2 and use the Decklink DV setting. We get realtime out to the external monitor and SDI output.

    So…. GO FOR IT!

I can use it as ‘timeline notes’ between off line and on line.. place and drag it on the timeline and rename the clip as a note ‘to do’. I do this in 1.5 using black and disabling it… if someone gave me an old worn out tyre I wouldn’t say it was useless… I would hang it from a tree and use it as a childs swing….

We do playouts every few days and use panasonic DVD recorders and record on DVD-RAM and keep rotating the reuseable discs. Using record once discs has 2 major problems…

1/ if they are kept they can be confused with later versions and

2/ how many drink coasters do you want!!! we were turning into alcoholics!!!

If you string the old discs in a tree it can keep the birds away from waking you in the early mornings.

BTW.. most panasonic DVD ‘players’ can play DVD-RAM too so all my producers have them at home. Oh, and all the later Pioneer DVD drives play them.
