It happened again!!!! and now I know what does it.
If you use the multitrack tool (M) and type in (eg) +200 (2 seconds) the track moves down 2 seconds and ALL transitions in the selected block get deleted. But if you use the multitrack tool and just drag the track down the transitions remain.
I use SHIFT_M (all tracks) a lot and of course going +200 caused all the transitions to go. So I suppose now I will just drag and avoid using offset entries. Incidently this is a new feature in PPro 2 being able to offset move timeline items; just click on any clip and type in +200 or -200 and it moves forward or backward 2 secs which caught me by surprise because I always use to use it to move the CTI to a specific offset so now I have to deselect any clips before I can do it (the same applies to the new HOME/END functionality…)
Anyone else confirm this? This has gotta be a bug right?

April 21, 2006 at 12:20 am in reply to: Matrox Announces Matrox RT.X2 Professional Realtime Native HDV and DV Editing PlatformHey Ron…
“Oh, Oh..!” the network just rejected my master because it didn’t meet their spec!!!! Doesn’t happen to me because I paid the money and chose Decklink uncompressed. It would have been OK with the Matrox but for those damn Tektronix analysers that ring alarm bells when they detect overly compressed (+2.5:1) masters.
See.. it all depends on final placement of your product.

Hey Sean.. With our Multibridge Extreme we are using an amplifier that has discrete 5.1 inputs. We take the 4 x AES and feed them into a Tascam AE8 which converts them to TDIF (to feed out DA88) and also feed a Tascam IF-DA8 which converts TDIF to 8 x analog outputs. Outputs 1 to 2 feed one stereo input of the amplifier and outputs 3 to 8 feed the 5.1 inputs of the amplifier.
We do this mainly because when we master to HDCam we are able to provide a stereo mix to tracks 1 and 2 and a 5.1 surround mix to tracks 3 to 8. But more importantly when editing it assists us in laying up tracks for our audio post suite. Maybe a little complicated for most but it is all to do with ‘futureproofing’

[Aanarav Sareen] “Could you clarify this in a little detail? Sounds like it could be a useful feature.”
In Avid if you have placed a clip in the timeline where part of that clip has also been used it ‘red flags’ that portion (ala Premiere’s “render needed” indicator but not to be confused with). Its purpose is to alert you to duplicate usage of the same media which in some cases may need to be avoided.
Its been a while since I have used an Avid but I recall working with directors and them asking if a certain shot had been used and I would simply drag it onto the timeline and see if it red flagged any portion of it. If it was I would extend the clip out until I found a part that wasn’t used. Also, and conviently, it would red flag the original instance of the clip so you could quickly locate it and decide the better place to use it. -
I was trying to post you the web link and that is why it was getting hijacked… I removed the web link and it worked… yippee… but you will have to sniff the url out

I am trying to post here to give you the solution but the COW won’t accept it…
the solution is Aspect HD from Cineform
If this post doesn’t work I give up!

If I need to find a clip on the timeline I select it in the bin and at the top of the project window (where a little video screen appears) there is a drop arrow which you click on and it displays all the instances of where the clip is used including sequence and timecode. Then I can click on any of the instances and the timeline will display it in use. Of course if the clip is not used there will be no drop down arrow.
It would be nice if PPro could indicate duplicate usage of a clip or part of within a single timeline like Avid does. Oh well…

March 31, 2006 at 7:56 am in reply to: Audio Monitoring Question on new Multibridge ExtremeAdam… No no no no no…!!!! Dont connect the Multibrige extreme 25 pin connector to the TDIF!!!!… They are 2 different types of digital signal… you could risk fritzing both ends… The Multibrige extreme uses discrete AES type digital and the Tascam TDIF is not compatible as it uses its own propriety version which includes syncronising stuff. If you want to go from MBX <> TDIF you can use a Tascam IF-88AE or an IF-AE8 which do 8 channels (4 x 2) conversions both ways.

here is the guest list in my graveyard…
Miro DC 1, Miro DC 10, Qmotion, Miro DC30+, Miro DC50, Miro DV 300, Plum, Matrox RT2000, Matrox RT2500, Canopus StormPro, Canopus Rex Pro. There is a ‘Reveal’ one there too but I was never able to get it to work.
(BTW. the DV300 is actually being used as an Adaptec Scsii adapter controlling a DLT drive with Encore 2) -
Just as a matter of interest I have an el-cheapo dual head card in my HDV system and another Viper 330 PCI card which gives me a third screen. I then use PPro 2’s playback settings to put the HDV onto the 3rd screen. This is probably breaking all the rules in the book but it is working great!
