    Hi,
We just switched from Bluefish444 to Decklink (so far much better results I should add). We are using Pipeline Pro VTR plug in, and getting several very strange issues.
First, when we export, every other export, we get this message “The current player does not suport timeline recording. Please change the player settings or use a different editing mode.” After closing this, and trying again, the export works. It’s happened consistently every other time. When we do get it to export, we can seem to adjust the play timing. In the past (with bluefish)it’s been of by a frame or 2, and we adjust the play timing and we’re done. With the decklink, when it does export to tape, it’s starting approx 15 frames late. It hasn’t been consistent thought sometimes 5, sometimes 15? I thought maybe someone may have run into these same issues? Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. We are using PP 2.0, Genlock from house sync, latest decklink driver.

    Thanks,
    Mike Goldberg

Hey Mike… it sounds like you are using the PPro 2.0 RS422 deck control… it has lots of bugs as you have discovered. If you have Pipeline Pro VTR plug in then copy it into the PPro 2 plugin folder and use it as your deck control and avoid the Premiere one.

We get that message once in a while to. I’m not sure I’ve resolved it but it seems you are better to have your VTR off while you load premiere or the decklink port isn’t always available (com 3 in our setup). Others were having problems when their onboard ports (com1 and com2) were disabled in bios.

As for the 15 frame delay…these are my notes for getting sync right.

“First – Manual edit controls the actual inpoint on the tape. We find 5 works on our machines so you might want to start there. You have to get this right first. Take a black tape, a timeline with bars, park your cursor on bars (so bars is in the frame buffer on screen), record and check the inpoint for accuracy.

Seond – Delay start controls when Premiere plays the timeline. Again I think 5 works for us. If this is off in one direction you record whatever is in the frame buffer for a few frames, if it is off in the other you miss the first few frames of your show. I suggest a timeline of single frame countdown to set this.”

    Good luck.

    Hi,
Actually I’ve gotten those results with both Premiere Serial deck control, and timecoder. It does seem to be related to premiere though.

I get problems if i have the capture window open and then close it and try to export to tape. If I just scrub the timeline a little and then go to export it doesn’t come up with that error.

But my ProVTR 7.1 works flawlessly with PPro 2.0 as it did with PPro 1.5….

As Baz said, if you use Capture window, first Export to tape is messed. It repeats 12 first frames twice or keeps repeating first frame 13 times. But next export is OK. We use BlackMagic RS422 in PPro2, edit delay 5 frames. So if you don’t use Capture in same session, Export to tape should be OK.

I haven’t noticed that one. Thanks for the info.

I thought ProVTR is the plugin that Adobe uses in 2.0?

[Shane Chadder] “I thought ProVTR is the plugin that Adobe uses in 2.0?”

I think its very loosely based… the GUI is totally different and be careful… IT DEFAULTS TO ASSEMBLE EDIT!!!!

When you use ProVTR do you control the deck through the decklink card? or do you use another com port with 422 coverter?

I have 7.1 but haven’t installed it with decklink.
