  • Oh!!!! OH!! Thank you very much.

You not only cleared this curiousity, but also guided about some other future queries which WERE bound to arise sooner/later. Very good explanation.

  • That’s ok. I kind of understood this too.

But query was why the 1st option in right click popup menu named ‘Rename’ is there, and why is it always unavailable? In other words, how can we avail the option ‘Rename’ shown in my screen shot?
    Thanks.

  • Happen to solve the above said query by chance. So if there is any other proper/better solution, pls do tell me. My way goes like this:

I just deleted the ‘media cache’ (Edit Menu> Preferences> Media Cache> Delete> Delete Unused Media Cache files’. And now I deleted the old Color Matte and created a fresh one.

And without even restarting the program, the newly created matte worked ok.

  • Thanks. It is clear that I was thinking wrong that PP either scans all clips and each frame in its memory (silly of me!).

Next I thought that since both child/sub clips were carved out of one master clip. PP would know about their frames similarity. (I thought somehow it’d know which frame is where, but again, after reading your answer, I felt so childish). But hey, you suggested a good work around.

But for anyone coming on this thread again:
Summary: Reverse Match Frame command can only find a frame from the same clip from which the Source Pnl has the frame loaded at this moment. Not 2 clips can be searched for one unique frame in this way!!

  • How to find this frame of Clip-kaka1 showing in the Src Pnl, in the TL (which has Clip Kaka2 loaded onto it) Both kaka1 and kaka2 clips are identical in every way, and exist in same bin, same project.

I was expecting to use ‘Reverse Match Frame’, but that isn’t working.

I’m trying to be as clear in what I’m asking, as possible.

  • For the past 7-8 days, I’m noting a new thing on Google.

For most PP enquiries, StackExchange is nowhere to be found on the first page of results.
Mostly there is Creative Cow and Reddit.

This is great new news. I don’t know what has changed or changing (even may be behind the curtains). But Cow is ranking high.

  • Thank you very much sir.

It really helped me a lot.

I know that you’re emphasizing/repeating that I should tell ‘What do I wish to achieve’. To that I repeat that it is/was just a confusion about the concept of pixels handling by PP’s ProgMon. And confusion about why area beyond my frame gets transparent when I turn on TGrid.

Thank you for helping me on this. (May be my level is too low in comparison to other PP community, and may be I’m not thinking along the lines of other experts, but I’m trying).

  • Pls somebody guide me. (I know I’ve become a bit lengthy, but I couldn’t find better/fewer words that could explain my problem).

Or Pls suggest some google/youtube link which could throw light on my confusion.

  • I’m sorry that I am still not able to explain what I want to ask.

I’ve no problem at the moment. I just have a confusion in my mind, which if not cleared, will not hinder any work of mine. Its just a confusion which my mind would like to be clear. This confusion is about how a particular functionality of PP works. And lots of googling also didn’t help on this. Each article is just explaining about ‘Scale to Fit’ or ‘Set to Frame’ etc. But none is talking about what I’ve asked above (there is no point of reiterating all again here).

And I’ve written about this confusion as clearly as possible. There are perhaps no other words left with me, with which I could express my doubts more clear.

Though not related to my query, but I’m using APP v24.5 on a Win11 PC with 16gb ram and i5 processor and my display resolution is 1360×768. And I’ve fully ok sony 22″ monitor.

I’ll try one more time though (I just can’t help it): My first query is how-much/how big is 100% (and 50% and ‘Fit’) zoom levels for PM? Is 50% zoom supposed to take half of my monitor (i.e. if my monitor display reso and my sequence reso were same)?

And 2nd, why ‘TGrid’ is taking more space around my PM video frame than it should!

  • P.S. to my prev reply, sent 20 min ago:

Regarding my query no 2, I’ve marked the area (which I think shouldn’t be replaced/occupied by Transparent pixels) with yellow in new SS being attached w this post.

Area marked with Red is ok to be replaced, but not ‘Yellow’ marked area (to my mind).
