  • Note: I’ve already spent hours and hours on this on Google, but failed to get any result.

And I am really delighted for such fast responses on Creative Cow. Even I, the seeker, is late in replying.

No doubt, I am also at a loss for words to express my ‘confusion’ in clarity. Though English is not my first language, but I feel I’m even not fully confident of the best way to express this confusion in my own tongue. But I’ll try harder, in diff words again.

I’m confused about the size of the pixels and the handling of the same by APPro in 2 ways. My query consists mainly of 2 points.

    1. When we resize Program Monitor, then how does it handles the zoom levels? If we choose 100% then how big is our image shown? And when we choose 50% zoom, is APP cropping our video or is it scaling the pixels (I understand the meaning of scale is ‘reducing the number of pixels’)? Or is it reducing the size of pixels?/ To repeat, is it cropping, scaling or reducing?

And if we choose ‘Fit’ then how much zoom level is being used, can we know by some method?

    2. Second query is related to what I’ve tried to show in my screen shots. It too relates to PP’s Prog Monitor. In my First SS, you can notice in the screen shot, I’ve kept the transparency grid off and there is black area around video and then further there is APP’s interface’s gray area around that black. NOW when I turn on the ‘Transparency Grid’ from the PM’s wrench icon, I expect that the TP should only replace the black area around the video, BUT, it is encompassing some of the ‘gray’ area also! Even though I’ve not touched any other setting at all, except switching on the TGrid. Then why is it replacing the gray area (that was around/encompassing the black area) of the PM? I’d urge you to compare the PM area in both screen shots carefully. I must confess that I’m only viewing this visually. There is no other benchmark that it is happening.

Perhaps I’ve used my full potential in trying to explain my dilemma/confusion here. Hope I was able to make myself clear this time. And also hope some user can clear this to me.

    Thank you Cow!!

  • Thank you very much. It got really tough to find answer to this problem on Google. Logged in just to thank you.

  • I’ve successfully assigned a desired key shortcut to ‘Nudge Video Keyframe 10 Frames’ in any direction. So is available for Audio Keyframes. I’m using PP v13.x

  • But I do only minor work, just 1280*720.
I don’t use any effects etc. (except the fixed effects).

Just cutting and joining most of the time.
It may happen though that sometimes in a sequence of 1280*720, there might be a clip of different resolution. That’s all.

Also, I’ve 12 gb in PC and 4gb chip extra with me. But since RAM was always free more than 8 gb, I didn’t care to insert that into the PC, which I’ll do now. But I don’t understand when RAM is always free, when I open PP and when after all the work, I finally close my PC, ram is free around 4GBs.

And C drive is 250 gb SSD (I don’t remember if I mentioned this fact of not). And ‘d’ is 1TB, more than half empty.

Would you still say that I shouldn’t expect a smooth playback (again, I’ve latest NVidia Graphics Card in my PC).

To repeat, won’t PP play a smooth video without any editings in a 1280*270 clip on my configuration PC with Graphics and free RAM?
