heey,

nice idea though, but if you wanna do this the “real thing” hire a pro for your driving. from your story above I’ve noticed you would like to do it another way. so yes. okey.

you can keep the car’s still (no driving) in front of a greenscreen. make some shots of scenery that moves (from out the car on a highway or something). now you have a moving background.

for all the details on the little things about cars and greenscreen.

then ehm, use a cable/court and some things that can pull hard on these cables. attach one cable to the car’s(the car that has to slide) front. to pull it in front of the car and a second cable to the back to make it swing.(and mayby a 3e one for extra)
now your problem is to get rid of those cables on the actual film, yes, hmm, mayby color them also and key them away as you would do with your greenscreen.

i strongly advice not to do those stunts by yourself as mentiont earlier.

heey,

i think this will help you :

-Edit your clip in Premiere. than save your project.

-open After Effects. file>import, then import your Premiere Pro project file.

-now you see your clips in the project panel and very important a sequence file (it’s called that way I thought).

-double click on that sequence file (important: do not move it into the timeline, just double click). and all your seperate scenes/shots/files (cut in Premiere pro) appear in the timeline in AE as seperated layers (also transitions and styles from Premiere PRo are imported).

-then use coole effects on them separedly. if you wanne render in AE, your done here.

render out in Premiere :

-then save your AE file. and if you wanna render it out in Premiere pro, just open the AE project file in Premiere.

-then only 1 clip will appear, but you’ve edit this the first time in PP and allready applied effects on it in AE, so no prob there 🙂

i tried dynamic link, but this is only a options for 1 scene/dvd menu or whatever per sequence. only usefull if you wanne see direct result between AE and PP. not with a movie with 200 shots or so:P

you can look on the tutorials here, on podcast. or buy DVD’s (find them in the store at this site). there are also a lot of great tutorials on http://www.videocopilot.net from andrew kramer. those are truely great.
and the whole tutorial dvd’s from Adobe “total training” and lynda.com are also usefull (bit boring though), you need a lot of time for those tutorials.

I suggest construction work lights as well, very powerfull and reletively cheap to buy. don’t forget to light your screen from above as wel.

you can set your comp file and the captured avi file to 16:9 widescreen if you want. (under preferences, or right click on video i believe). but i don’t think you want to convert your 4:3 captured video to 16:9, because the whole image and people/stuff will be stretched out unnatural.
and to convert 16:9 to 4:3 is the same problem.

i have a new Dell Inspiron 6400 with extra upgrades (Ram, Processor, some lcd screen upgrade coating ). it has firewire(and a lot usb 2) input and i can run easy Premier PRo 2 and After effects 7 at the same time.

and because simple “copy past” doesn’t work with any animation presets or any other effects applyed to the footage in AE i have to use the dynamic link.
