Activity Forums Adobe After Effects bullet holes ?

    For metal, draw one in Illustrator then just cut to it onscreen. Or buy one of those fake bullet hole stickers and scan it.

    For other materials, you’ll need to find a stock image of one, and use something like Shatter (in AE) to simulate the stuff flying away from the thing that has been hit.

    In particle illusion they have a few preset particle effects that simulate bullets breaking through glass.

    on the “action movie essentiels” from andrew kramer, i thought there were bullet holes stockfootage in it.

    I’d use Shatter. Create your bullet hole using a small layer and then apply Cell Pattern, tweak to taste to get some roundish-looking spot(s). Then apply Roughen Edges. Use the result as a Custom Shatter Map.

    In Shatter, use a gradient to time the appearance of the bullet hole(s).
