Is it just me or would an edl for a 7 video track video be the worst way ever to piece together a video?!

Wouldn’t it make more sense to give the client an xml, or better yet the actual project file in the rare event that someone else would have to make changes?

With the 18 different videos we are doing I would have to make like… 250-300 edl files?!?!?

I’m going to see if we can change the deliverables to something more manageable and practical.

I also had this problem. One computer had 5.1.4 and the other had 5.0. I just copied the final cut pro app to an external harddrive then replaced the old version with it. Worked like a charm.

    November 9, 2007 at 9:35 pm in reply to: 720p 59.94 or 720p 29.97?

Yes, It’s for the web primairly but also for DVD. Last year the project was shot and edited at 720p 23.98 so it was a bit choppy on the internet . This year they decided they wanted 30 fps shot at 720p.

Am I correct in capturing and editing at 720p 59.94 DVC Pro HD?

    Thanks

With our Kona 3 card we have been using 500G and 1TB G-Raids, as well as the CalDigit S2VR HD 3.7 TB – all with great success.

That’s what I am currently doing. Problem is that it’s over a still background and you can really notice the flickering.

Got the SP deck figured out. I just layed down timecode on the tape then did an edit to tape from FCP.

    Thanks for the help.

  • I tried a 10 second test clip and it took 10 minutes on a 2×2.26 dual-core intel mac.
I had some other programs running while it was still converting but that is still pretty rediculous. might work if I leave all my clips converting over night.

  • Yeah, I knew that would work. I just wanted to see if there was an easy way to go from SD to DVC PRO because I already captured 5 tapes of the DVC PRO footage. I guess I’ll just recapture it in a downconverted format.

    Thanks alot for your help!
