Opening FCP 6 project in 5.1.4
Posted by Barry Lank on February 5, 2008 at 5:57 pmIs there any way to open a FCP 6 project in 5.1.4 or is the only way to open it upgrading to 6?
Does a program like automatic duck do this?

You can create then save an XML file of the whole project in FCP 6 and then import the XML file into FCP 5.1.4. What won’t be included in the XML export file are any codecs or filters that are unique to FCP 6. That should do it for you.

February 5, 2008 at 6:41 pmNo way. You must go to 6. Or get the guy editing in 6 to give you XML’s – but then you need to go sequence by sequence, and XML’s are sometimes a little buggy

February 5, 2008 at 6:58 pmFor me, Audio will often reconnect as Mono (that is you’ll see two tracks, but it will connect only the L channel from and aiff to both….)
sometimes speed effects go bad.
most cuts and dissolves should be solid though
