I don’t know. I’m not in CA, although I’ve bought some equipment from a dealer there and picked it up there, and they used the form to save me a whole lotta sales tax. But it was bought through my corporation, so I don’t know how to answer the question.

You can get the offset to be exactly identical though. If you set all parameters to be exactly the same, and then trigger the cameras into FREE RUN mode by using one remote control pointed at all the cameras at the same instant, they will all be identically in sync and should stay identically in sync.
However, if you have to turn one of the cameras off, or switch it to VCR mode, or change its battery, that will cause its sync to get “off”.

Local is always good, especially if they’re authorized.
California has a production equipment sales tax break. There’s a form you can use that will drop the sales tax down to like 3%. That’d cut it to around $100. Might make the local dealer all the more competitive.
Ask ’em if they have that form; if not, do a google search. I know that other dealers have it and make it available.

Beach is not an authorized dealer for the DVX. Any camera they sell you may be gray-market, which would mean no warranty, no DVX Book/DVD, no extra battery, no box of AMQ tapes, no Magic Bullet Editors software, etc.
They may sell you an authorized unit (bought by them from an authorized reseller) or they may sell you a gray-market unit. B&H will *only* sell you an authorized unit. Be careful when dealing with a non-authorized seller.

What Tim said. If you buy a new one you get a $300 rebate, plus the DVX Book/DVD, plus Magic Bullet Editors software, plus a manufacturer’s warranty, plus a free CGR-D54 long-life battery, plus a box of AMQ tapes. You probably wouldn’t get any of that stuff if you bought used. Just be sure to buy from an authorized reseller and not one of the bait ‘n’ switch gray-marketers; if you buy gray-market you get *none* of that stuff.

You can also sync the cameras using free-run timecode. As long as the cameras are all set equally (NDF or DF, Free Run, and TC PRESET) they’ll stay in sync throughout the day unless you turn one of them off (changing the battery, etc).

Squeeze is for an entirely different purpose than letterbox. You can’t directly compare them and decide one is better than the other, because they are used for different purposes.
Squeeze is for making video suitable for display on a 16:9 television.
Letterbox is for making video suitable for display on a 4:3 television.Squeeze would look “wrong” on a 4:3 TV, and Letterbox would look “wrong” on a 16:9 TV.
Now, with that said, they start with the same basic information, so they’re roughly about the same in terms of overall resolution. And Squeeze mode can be very, very good. A DVX in Squeeze mode, when shooting 24p or 30p and using THIN line detail, delivers just as much resolution as a “native 16:9” chip camera like the Sony FX1 in DV mode. Squeeze doesn’t work that well in interlaced, but in progressive it works superbly.

It means to underexpose by at least half a stop, or maybe a full stop.
The Cine-Like gamma curves have no “knee” to prevent blowing out highlights on overexposure. So it’s up to you to protect against overexposure and blowing out. That’s why they recommend in the manual to bias your iris towards underexposure.
I believe the scene files F5 and F6 both include an A.Iris setting of -3. -3 means about one stop of underexposure (but that only applies when using auto-iris, of course).
