TC Sync on multiple DVX-100as?
Anybody doing multi-camera stuff w/the DVX-100a?
Do you sync TC for post?
What process do you use?

Two choices:
1- Run a master clock with a TC out and either feed it to each camera on one of the audio tracks or when you hit record point each camera at the master clock’s timecode display.
2- Turn on each camera and clap a film-style slate in view of each one.

You can also sync the cameras using free-run timecode. As long as the cameras are all set equally (NDF or DF, Free Run, and TC PRESET) they’ll stay in sync throughout the day unless you turn one of them off (changing the battery, etc).

You can set the cameras to free-run tc, but they will never have exactly matching timecode. The offsets may remain constant, but offset they will be. Not a big deal but people should be aware of it.

You can get the offset to be exactly identical though. If you set all parameters to be exactly the same, and then trigger the cameras into FREE RUN mode by using one remote control pointed at all the cameras at the same instant, they will all be identically in sync and should stay identically in sync.
However, if you have to turn one of the cameras off, or switch it to VCR mode, or change its battery, that will cause its sync to get “off”.
