Actually that’s a question mark right now — it may be wider than we originally thought.
Originally we were told it was 13x, 4.5 – 58.5mm. But at IBC some of the models were marked 4.2 – 55mm.
I don’t think we’ve heard confirmation as to which is going to be the production model, but it’ll likely be 4.5mm or wider (perhaps 4.2mm). Still 13x zoom.

Yeah, but look into reliability reports on the Citidisk. There are many reports from people who have the CitiDisk and its twin, the QuickStream, which say that it basically just doesn’t work. It may be cheap (and so was the Yugo) but if it doesn’t do the job reliably, it’s worse than not having it at all.

The current FS-4 Pro costs something like $1700 for the 80gb version. And then you have to spend another $299 to get it to be compatible with HDV.
So, presuming the new product is similar to the FS-4 Pro, them saying “under $2,000” would place it directly comparable to their existing product.
I really hope it isn’t an FS-4 style device — I really, really, really think it’d be more useful if it had user-swappable hard disks. But, we know nothing about it yet. All Focus has really done here is confirm that they will be developing a product for the HVX; I don’t think they’ve committed to any form factor or anything else yet.

I got a couple of the Power2000 batteries way back in 2003 when I first got my DVX. They were sort of mediocre. I have a CGR-D54 and a DVXUser battery now, and both are quite superior to the Power2000’s. The DVXuser batter is an incredible deal; it costs just over 1/3 of what the Panasonic battery does, yet it even lasts a little longer.

I don’t see it happening. They’ve alread announced that it will have some variable frame rates between 4 and 60 fps, so I don’t think they’ve left any room to speculate on rates faster than 60…—————–

No, it was shot on the VariCam. This spot was done a few months ago to be ready for the 48 Hrs Film Competition, long before the HVX was ready to start delivering footage.

The DVX100A is the US NTSC model. The DVX100AE is the European/Australian PAL model. They have the same features, but one is NTSC and the other is PAL.

Oh, I totally agree. I’d love to see a PCMCIA adapter card with a slot for high-speed CF memory, that you could swap out CF cards in. The expense would be in the first card (with whatever proprietary hardware it might need to interface with the P2 system in the camera). Then you’d have the ability to just plug in off-the-shelf CF (or even SD) cards; like the Sandisk Extreme III, which technically should be able to support the data rate right now. $500 for 4gb. I think that would be a great little product, if someone would develop it.
