I was curious if there was more information out there about the HVX200’s ability to record at variable frame rates? To what extent can you change the frame rate and how easy is it to undercrank and overcrank the frame rates for good fast-motion and slow-motion video? I haven’t been able to find alot of information about this on the board or elsewhere, and if that information doesnt exist until we get closer to the release of the camera thats fine. But any additional information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Slow and fast motion are definitely possible. Still up in the air which specific frame rates between 1 and 60 are supported and whether ramping is supported.

Is it unlikely that the HVX200 would go past 60 fps? From past post it seems that is what is speculated. I was hopeing the camera would be able to do super slow motion like the 120 range.

    I can’t see 120fps being possible, but hey, I wouldn’t complain.

With progressive 60p video you can get pretty good results by shooting with double shutter speed and slowing down to half in the post with righ motion blur settings.

I don’t see it happening. They’ve alread announced that it will have some variable frame rates between 4 and 60 fps, so I don’t think they’ve left any room to speculate on rates faster than 60…

    sorry I cant remember where…

    Thanks,

10 – 12 variable frame rates (12, 24, 48, 60 for sure) are to be included. Jan, of course, is pushing for 12. No ramping on the HVX200. Maybe a feature for the HVX 300? 😉

There’s lots of posts and threads here with little scraps of info about VFR recording on HVX and HPX cameras. Does anyone know of a single source that gives a thorough step by step explanation of the process. I have a new Pana HPX300 and I’ve done some tests with the 1280×720 VFE settings but things don’t look right, the slow mo just looks like stuttering in playback, so obviously something is wrong. Anyway, any suggestions for a single source on VFR recording would be helpful.
