to be fair, this really should be an operating system level option.

not to be a nuisance but could anyone post some more direct links?
been searching but the searches i’m doing don’t seem to get me to
anything very specific. i’m interested in things like what services
i can disable, how to do that, optimizing disk throughput, minimizing
extraneous graphics. some of this may be overly pc oriented in my
concerns. these are things i commonly do on pc based systems. would
love to find the specifics online for doing these things on a mac.
looking into the ‘optimizing your fcp system’ book recommended above.
more interested in the system performance issues with regard to os/
hardware rather than workflow but seems like a good general reference
as well. will probably pick it up. have the total training tutorials.
really just looking at system level info though.

    thanks again,

January 7, 2007 at 9:54 pm in reply to: noob monitor setup question

    thought it was clear:

monitor 1 = fcp assets, workspace
    monitor 2 = fcp timeline
monitor 3 = peripheral software (openoffice, safari, filemaker, etc)
    monitor 4 = timeline output

system is already in place. i just need to be able to get the timeline
to default to the cinema display rather than one of the others as it
currently seems to want to do. is fcp capable of defining monitor
usage in a greater than dual monitor setup?

    thanks,

or will any 10.4 x11 work?

tried neooffice a while back. it’s a bit funky, or was then.
the openoffice folks are working on an aqua version of ooo
but says on the site it’s still a couple of months off so
    who knows.

for anyone else with this issue:

    options—–>quantize to frames

that toggles snapping to even frame breaks.
