July 11, 2010 at 1:05 am in reply to: Quick way to colorize a black & white pattern for custom shatter map?Yeah, that’s what I ended up doing, for some reason I thought there would be some kind of trick someone may have used to do something like this automatically, possibly with expressions or something, but I may have underestimated the complexity of doing something like that… haha

July 10, 2010 at 9:14 am in reply to: Quick way to colorize a black & white pattern for custom shatter map?Well, I guess I should have been more clear…
Basically my picture is a black and white image of roses, so I am trying to get each petal of the roses to fall into place to create a transition, and I’m using shatter to make that happen. Now I know mosaic would give me random color, but I would like to color each petal randomly…does anyone know how to make this happen?

July 10, 2010 at 1:18 am in reply to: How do I create a transition where a drawing comes in piece by piece, building an image?Thank you for your reply! I’ve been doing some searching, and found that I am going to try to create a custom shatter mapfrom the image and do it that way, in reverse of course… now I am just trying to figure that all out.
Thanks again,
Aza

July 9, 2010 at 11:06 pm in reply to: Keylight 1.2 making my keys look interlaced on non-interlaced footage?Thank you Dave! I really appreciate the extended reply as well, I like learning as much as possible. I totally forgot about pulldown… I previously knew that, but for some reason I think I assumed, wrongly, that After Effects did that automatically on import. I will remove it. Thanks again, and thanks for putting up with noobs like myself!

Awesome, just the answer I was looking for as well…
Also, I have a timeline item that is key-framed and is the parent of other layers, when I try to alt drag a new item into it that’s a different size, it shifts everything (child layers and keyframes) over, and when I try to scale it down, all the child layers scale down with it… is there a way around this problem? ie to swap something in of a different size, but have it scale down automatically, or something?

Well, being that I work at a production company, and they have tight wallets, changing to newer stuff isn’t an option until the old stuff breaks, or fails miserably – for some reason my extra time spent correcting a lousy workflow doesn’t matter much, for now.
I haven’t tried Offline/Online workflow with Premiere as I edit Online raw anyhow, for the time being. But even with Avid, when shot-checking a lot of these shows we do (shot on HDV) I still end up having to adjust many clips a few frames here and there. To me it just seems weird that the deck has to stop at each TC break, rewind, start, pre-roll and then capture – though I guess maybe I don’t know enough to know…

Ok, shoot, I am using Media Composer 2.6.4
What can I do with that. I am trying to use the Control + drag option with the mouse, and I can select the video clips I want, but I can’t seem to jump down and also select the audio tracks I need with those. How can I select the video tracks, and then drag another square to grab the Audio tracks?
Thanks guys,

I had no idea it would be that simple…
Thank you very much! For some reason I thought going from a 1.21 px aspect ratio to a sq px comp was going to involve a more complex solution.
So, then, just to pick your brain, what if I wanted to do the reverse? Go from a square pixel comp to a 1.21, or even .91?

February 20, 2010 at 7:00 pm in reply to: A frequency analyzer for After Effects CS4 audio(Trapcode Form)?…Well, a graphic equalizer allows you to adjust specific frequencies, but which ones will also show the frequencies are being used in a particular song graphically ie- so I can watch the song being played and go, oh, the chorus (instrumental)seems to be using these particular frequencies, so I can set Form to react to frequencies in this range, etc.
