    Another idea,

You can change the color of your mask lines by going in the timeline and to the left of where it says “mask” press on the yellow square. There you can change it to a color that will be most visible.

    good luck,

    Thanx for the reply,

I tried opening the link you gave me, but all I see is a bunch of letter and symbols. When I right-click it, I don’t see any “save as”, I could only save a link to the desktop, it doesn’t give me any options. Is there something I’m missing here, or not doing it right?

    Thanx anyway,
    – A.N.

    Here’s an alternative way:

In AE, make a mask the of the hole you want to rip out, then duplicate the layer and set the bottom layer’s mask to “invert”, then by animating the top layer you’ll have a chunk come out.

In the “render” settings, make sure “effects” should be set to “current settings”, and not “all on”.

    Good luck,

  • If you have the Zaxwerks Invig. then do a search for a tutorial by Serge Hamad that’s called “Creating a 3D Filmstrip or Flowing Ribbon”. Hope that helps.

  • Go to “Effect” > “Image Control” > “Grow Bounds”, and expand as necessary.

NOTE: Make sure to put this effect on top of any other effect you want it to effect.
