  • Yes, using the ColorTrace function you can copy the grades shot by shot. See manual for ‘ColorTrace’.

Rendering out to a single file in FCP X was my last resort when I found out that I couldn’t export my project as XML for import in Resolve.

The FCP X 10.0.4 + Resolve 8.2.1b have now resolved this problem. (Although Resolve currently crashes when I import the newly exported XML file of above project…)

    regards, Arthur

If you absolutely want to make ProResHQ (question is why, because every transcode hurts the material), then you need to export and re-import.”

For example because I want to grade in Resolve and the footage is in a codec that Resolve can’t handle natively.

(Since last beta Resolve handles also Canon XF300 / C300 codec, but this was a problem until last week)

  • If you have a SDI card in your Mac Pro, you will need at least 10.7.2 to use it with FCP X. Other than that I think everything should work with 10.6.8 .

  • I’ve just installed it as well, but actually it won’t let me create optimized media at all. That option is greyed out, probably because it is a MPEG2 codec and FCP X thinks it doesn’t need optimized media for that, same as with HDV footage. Which is fine in most cases, but I would like to have the choice. Anyway that is a FCP X problem, the plugin works fine so far.

  • Was the camera on manual or auto focus?

The XF300 manual mentions that focus shifts in manual mode can occur due to temperature differences.

Are you sure the XLR inputs are on ‘mic’ and not on ‘line’ level ?

  • I have a Vixia HF S100 (basically the same as S10) and no problems importing. I put the SD card in a SD card reader iso of connecting the camera itself.

However the import dialog is very slow if you import from the SD card directly and some clips don’t import correctly on the first run.

So I usually copy the entire card to my harddisk (also for backup purpose) and then import into FCP X from the copied archive.

August 9, 2011 at 9:25 pm in reply to: BMDStreamingFirmwareUpdater

I have a similar issue: in the system log the following message is appended every 10 seconds:

    Aug 9 23:14:49 Winnie-Poes-Mac-Pro com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[148] (com.blackmagic-design.streaming.BMDStreamingFirmwareUpdater[515]): posix_spawn(“/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/Streaming/BMDStreamingAPI.bundle/Contents/Resources/BMDStreamingFirmwareUpdater.app/Contents/MacOS/BMDStreamingFirmwareUpdater”, …): No such file or directory
    Aug 9 23:14:49 Winnie-Poes-Mac-Pro com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[148] (com.blackmagic-design.streaming.BMDStreamingFirmwareUpdater[515]): Exited with exit code: 1

No popups on screen and all BMD software seems to run fine, only my system log gets cluttered a lot this way.

I’m running 10.6.8 and have the following BMD software installed:
    – Decklink SDI driver
    – HDLink Pro Utility
    – Resolve 8 lite

I tried to delete the file that you mentioned but in /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design there is no streaming directory.

Any other way to stop respawning the firmware updater?

    Thanks, Winfried
