None whatsoever. Nada. Zero. If you have a peculiar problem that only happens with some specific type of hardware, say all of your G Raid drives going offline, but nothing else is effected (including your other FW devices), then it’s probably not the fault of the OS. It’s most likey the fault of the drive (or other device).

Have you rendered everything in FCP? Are you viewing this on a video monitor? If the answer to either is ‘no’ then post back after you’ve rendered &/or hooked up a video monitor.

I’ve done assemble edits with a DSR-11. Most of the time it works the way I want it to. Most of the time. Matte’s right that FW isn’t frame accurate for deck control, but I don’t think that’s the issue here.
Forgive me for asking the obvious, but do you have the deck set to PAL? there’s (fairly well hidden) a switch on the back for that.

DVDSP will include another program called Compressor. One of the things that Compressor does is ac3 encoding, and on a recent PowerMac it will encode quite a bit faster (6X or 10X faster!) than realtime.

Actually, with DVCam you can get a 3 hour load!! I get these from a client all the time.

You do know that you can connect to an ftp server directly from the finder. Command-k will open a prompt for the server address. The server will prompt you for a user name & password if it needs them.

All widescreen formats in Standard def are anamorphic. SD in NTSC can only be either 720X480 for DV or DVD, or 720X486 for uncompressed.

The pros? None, really. the cons? You need to render 2X. Once from Motion, once again in FCP.
The best workflow is to simply import your Motion project directly into FCP & render it directly in your timeline. If you need to make changes, you simply right-click (Control-click if you have a 1 button mouse) & choose ‘Open in Editor’, which will launch Motion & load the project for you. when you finish your changes, you save, Command-Tab back to FCP, & the motion file will automagically re-link itself.

Considering that Sony’s selling their XDCamHD camera for around 2X the price an HVX200 w/ memory cards (w/out a lens!), they’d better offer it for free!
