If the greenscreens are well lit, you should be able to pull keys in either program. you may, however, want to buy a better keyer than what comes with either FCP or Motion.
While you’re at it, though, take a look at Shake. It’s now only $500, it comes with both Primatte & Keylight, and it has 1st rate tools for masking & rotoscoping.

My bad… I’ve been using it for tiff sequences. I just assumed that it would to targas as well.
You could always copy & past your clips into an uncompressed sequence & export your targas from there. Then they should be square pixel.

All DVC Pro HD codecs are anamorphic. When I want to make a square pixel image sequence from DVC Pro HD, I use compressor. If you’re going to do this with any frequency, you can make yourself a preset in Compressor with the specs that you need or prefer.

Take a look at the Panasonic monitors. I’ve been using the 17″ & 26″ LCDs & they’re fantastic. I’ve heard that their plasmas are really good, and they’re much cheaper than the LCDs.

This is a great thing to do in Motion. You would apply any moves and filters to a layer, and simply swap out the footage in that layer.

1- Hire a good DP.
2- Use a tripod, dolly or stedicam. Don’t hand hold a small camera.
3- Light every shot.

30 second handles for an OMF is incredibly long. Most sound editors I know want 2-10 second handles. FWIW, when I give sound to a mixer or sound editor, I simply give them an OMF and a copy of the picture in whatever codec they want.

If you must use anti-virus software, use Clam AV. It’s free, it’s kept up to date, and it’s the same AV software that protects most of the servers that actually run the internet. I use it every month, or so (part of a monthly routine maintenance & backing up).
