You should be able to do this in AE, Shake, Motion, Combustion, any app that features both painting and tracking. The trick is to use a brush stroke that remains painted.

The DSR-11 will not play back tapes that are shot in LP mode. It should play back tapes shot in SP, but Cannon cameras have been known to be wonky about how they shoot to tape.

Which is how I usually say it. I’ve had cogent conversations with people who say “ah-jah”, and we’ve usually understood each other (at least about the capture device!). But they answer the phone “Ay-Jay-Ay video.”

A used Kona 2 will run you about $400-500 on eBay, and will provide you with many advantages over a firewire or DVI converter. The K2 will support HD and SD in nearly all formats (including uncompressed), and it can upconvert and downconvert as well. If you’re planning on keeping your G5 for the next year, it would probably be a good investment.

Umm… Try another camera?
Honestly, if it only shoots at a frame rate that’s inconvenient for you, why bother? You will either have to live with video that’s 16% slower than the people that watch it, or you’ll have to spend a lot of time, energy and money making the picture softer.
There are a lot of cameras on the market that make 1080 video at 25fps. it makes no sense to me that you have to kludge this one into your workflow.

This is really very simple and easy. You simply paint out each and every drop of water in each and every frame. 30 frames each second, 1800 each minute.
Or you can take Dave’s advice and reshoot.

The checkbox is still there for the “standard” driver. Apparently there was an issue with some systems, hence the NDD driver with no checkbox.

There are 2 versions of the Kona driver. The “NDD” version (No Digital Desktop) does not have any desktop display. The other version will. If you’re a Shake user, you don’t want the NDD version.

I’m with Ed. Keep it progressive. Keep it in as good quality a format as is practical for your computer to handle. That will open up more options for you down the road. BTW, you can use Quicktime Pro to stitch the image sequences together.
