    Hello..
First time posting a question…only second time visiting the site.

I shoot using a Canon G2…then import into FCP using a DSR-11. It was working fine last time(few weks ago)…but now…the deck takes the tape and plays it…but no video or audio signal coming out…either to monitor or in FCP. The tape is good and the FW is good, the tape imports fine using my camera’s playback mode. I have gone through every menu item on the Sony DSR 11…but am at a dead end. I thought perhaps it was the fact I sometimes shoot at LP . But I just shot a tape at SP mode…and still nothing. FCP can control the deck, and I am getting the menu display from the deck on my monitor…but no video. This has happened in the past intermittently…but somehow it just corrects itself(or seems that way!). I have also hit the reset button on back. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks much. Dave H.

    Hi Dave,

All I can think of is to make absolutely sure the INPUT SELECT switch on the front panel is FIRMLY in the DV position. It is conceivable that that switch is electrically sitting on the “DV / S_VIDEO” fence, so to speak. Hope that helps.

The DSR-11 will not play back tapes that are shot in LP mode. It should play back tapes shot in SP, but Cannon cameras have been known to be wonky about how they shoot to tape.

Fire the photog. Whoever shot the tape used the LP mode.
You will need to obtain the camera to do this capturing.

Nobody said the tape was shot in LP mode.
