Try plugging in VIA an external drive. Magic.

Thanks a lot guys. I suppose it is doing what you’d want it to do. I appreciate you taking the time to discuss this. See you,

No, I’m trying to explain what happens when you use the ripple tool. What’s the rule? It is much more complicated then the manual states.
For example:
Line up tracks like this:
v1: AAAAAAAAAAAAAABBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
a1: BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
a2: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAIf you want to trim the head of the B video clip and need the B audio to stay in sync, you need to also select the edit point in front of the B audio. We don’t want to trim the B audio, just move it in sync with the video. So, we select the tail of the black before the B audio. However, once you do this, your A audio will also move.
I’m looking for a rule that can be applied in such a way that after edit points are selected, one could apply the rule and predict what will happen when a trim is made. Which clips will move and which won’t. I came up with a rule but I’m not sure it’s complete.

No, I meant ‘camera roll’. Turns out that you can only modify it with the cinema tools database. Thanks,

Are you not just talking about linking here? (shift-L) Which can easily be turned off.
>The fact that the Video and Audio are automically linked bothers me. For the exact reason this thread was started. I want to move my video separate from >my audio all the time. if I wanted both, I’d shift click…
>Can’t disable that function…as much as I’d like to. -
The fact is that stuff isn’t actually going out of sync. I can’t believe there isn’t a little ‘don’t warn me again’ checkbox.
As a bonus, you can’t move this window, it’s locked dead center on the main screen, appears there every time, which is exactly where I’m not looking after I do an edit, so I don’t notice it.

You’re going to have a heck of a time fixing this. Try playing with the high pass and low pass filters and see if you can isolate the problem. You won’t be able to get rid of it, but you can probably help it a bit. Then try covering it up with crowd noise/more distortion.
I suggest hiring an audio post professional if your client really needs the audio to be decent. But I doubt he needs it perfect, otherwise he wouldn’t have hired you. (sorry for the dig but auto levels, and the on-camera mic aren’t ever going to get good audio at such an event)

Try increasing the bit rate in DVDSP preferences (encoding).
