    Hi Kieran

[Kieran Matthew] “The options are to encode separately in Compressor with setting adjusted to add contrast and gamma shift, or to use another encoder like Bitvice, which has a “studio RGB” button for this.”

Can you suggest how to compensate the offset in compressor. I tried various settings but without luck.
Should I just give it up and purchase bitvice?

I apologise for the late reply, but after the bad news or suspicion of bad news I decided to go for a long drive. Oh well .. very strange though that a drive wouldn`t last very long time

    Jeremy
I apologise if my post wasn`t very clear….

    Here`s my workflow
    1-shot with sony z1 1080i pal 50i
    2-captured hdv via fw
3-edited in hdv timeline full res
    4-exported to compressor
5-imported into dvd sp only AC3 file plus mpeg-2
6- also I exported QT movie very fast and accurate
result gr8 dvd no artifacts nice and clean all around
    only to bright
I tried to follow other workflows like:
nest the hdv timeline into a sd timeline did again CC then exported to compressor then the rest as above.
I also did a 8 bit uncompressed , a 10 bit uncompressed “this was a bit hard to render” ,
I managed to produce a sd dvd following all the above variations , though the end result is that brightness is my issue.
In regards the 1 month x 7 min statement I reffered to how long is takin me to get the power mac g5 quad set up to produce a dvd that looks like in the timeline….
I may have to give up … and pay a tech guru to do it for me

I believe my chep dvd works fine,at least when I`m looking at some hollywood blockbuster! ha ha ha
I use dvd sp only to burn the dvd. Last night though I tried to build and burn but the result didn`t change at all….
I`m very worried now because the more I read in the cow and other sites the more I see issues………. well at least I`m not able to fix it on my own :), and why those settings changed from pal to ntsc. also with an i in the end, i`m more confused by the day……… one month for almost 7 min clip, not bad as ratio!!! he he
I`m sure I`ll never be a threat to a pro! he he
anyhow is 1 am here and I have to go to work early….. I`ll give another o tomorrow .
    Txs for you help Jeremy

    Marcus
I believe I saw something similar on my mac! I have been trying for weeks to get this sd dvd pal to look as I want, but it seams impossible. If I view the project on the dvd sp timeline before I burn it, I can see that it looks like in the timeline of fcp. I then realised that in the track panel it shows the dimentions of a ntsc 720 x 480 screen not pal,and also it shows an i in the end……….. I thought I changed all before in compressor. I work only in pal though, so is by aby chance that a hopeless gy like me can set the mac to produce a sd dvd that is in the pal format and reproduces the image as I want?
    Txs for any suggestions

    Hi Jeremy !
Yes pratically this is it……… I burned at least a dozen or should I say a dirty dozen of dvd`s… and while the definition of it looks fantastic the luminosity in it has nothing to do with my settings in the timeline . And in my last attempt I cut down the mids a bit then the whites all the way down to 63% … yep I have some kind boosting to 100% whites kind of hidden effect going on… someone also suggested to trash preferences in compressor and dvd sp … and again same boosting effect.
txs in advance for any suggestion
