Download the Canon E1 plugin its free, then you can transfer the footage in FCP via the log and transfer window.
Change all of your footage to ProRes LT or higher.

Are you Capturing(Tape-based)
or Transcoding(Cards,Harddrive based cameras, etc.)
Tape must be capture via FW400 at least.
You can use USB cardreaders to transcode or transfer footage.
hope that helps.

Are you try to use Speed Ramping?
Try Opt+T in the timeline and you will get the keyframe>toggle clip keyframes overlays will appear on the timeline.
you will see a series of tick marks on the clip, evenly spaced means 100% speed, closer together means
faster than 100%. If you click on the tick marks you will create speed segments. Right Click in between the segments and you can change the speed of just the segment.try watching this video:

watch the speed tools video, short sweet and to the point.

What kind of layers are in your PSD?
if you have any vector or non Rasterized layers, FCP doesn’t read them.Duplicate your project into a new file and rasterize all of your layers.
No Vector layers at all.If you have already rasterized, try making empty layers and merging the existing layers.
I hope this works for you.

I prefer to just right click the clips in the timeline and use clip enabled. Its easier, and doesn’t lose render files. If you disable a clip it will live in the timeline and you just turn the lights off like its invisible.
hope that helps.*Production*Post-Production*

You can create this effect by shooting blurry light and increasing the contrast and playing with composite modes.
or…… you can purchase LightFX per clip, not so pricey either.
https://www.lucavisualfx.com/clips.htm
These all blend together as well to create more complex FX.

Make sure your not on Alpha channel view, should be RGB only. everytime your playhead stops it turns white on Alpha. Its under the overlays as listed in the last post.

Longer Clips are harder on your computer. Short is easier process and the computer likes shorter clips.
You can also use MPEG Streamclip to transcode and run a batch. Then Subclip your large clips in FCP when after you ingest.*Production*Post-Production*
