A great all around lens is the 16-35mm 2.8, its pricey but great for focus.
you can get a great wide shot keep most of your shot in focus.

The 7D has a little more noise/grain in low light and has a slight yellowish tint compared to the 5D MKII
When you use them side by side you will appear zoomed and cropped on the 7D.
Both great cameras just know that Full Frame has a crazy DOF, and is harder to KEEP in focus.

You should invest in a HardDrive Dock then you can edit on your portable hard drive. Then back up and offload on a internal drive. Costs a lot less, they run about 60$ for 320GB for a Laptop Hard Drive.

Did you transcode your files or just change your sequence setting to ProRes?
What are you using to Transcode? try using MPEG StreamClip.
Also, check your RT settings in the top right of your timeline. Should be on unlimited, not safe.
Safe RT will cause you to render all the time.

When you are importing are you using file>import
Try creating a New FCP Project, then drag the PSD in from the finder window.
See if this works.

If that doesnt work, you can also…..
export a still from your fcp project and export using QT conversion as a PSD file then open
Copy all elements from your PSD project into the Exported PSD from FCP then save and import that into FCP.

Again, Try dragging in from the finder window instead of file>import

Transcode to ProRes 422, depending on what your output. Try ProResPro Proxy, smaller files(FCP7 only)

Try to use the image capture app on your mac to ingest the iphone.
Just remember to iphone4 shoots 1280×720 not 1920×1080.

image capture is a free app that comes with every mac. you can see all of your photo/video files on any device mounted to your machine.

If you are on FCP 7 you will have a few clicks to make a dvd.
Try using the Share window, if you dont mind a basic DVD that loops or simple menu.
You can create the DVD in FCP.

Amy,

you will have an easier time editing in ProRes, HDV is not great to work in. Transcode your footage, and you will see the difference, just how much faster the clips are viewed. If you use HDV you may encounter a few bumps in the road. It can choke your machine.

take a screenshot of what your PSD sequence in FCP looks like, as well as your seq settings.
You can also change you external editor for stills as PS. That is not the problem.
What version of PS are you on?

one drive is for the OS, the other is the media drive.
not 1 drive portioned.
