  • I’m using the latest Premiere (9.2) in Windows 10 on a 2011-3 chip with a 980 ti. I noticed the other day that exporting a sequence using the DNxHD codec was only using 53%-74% CPU usage. Exporting the same sequence using the ProRes codec utilized 99%-100% the whole export. I think the CPU usage may depend on the codec you’re using. I’m curious now and will run some benchmarks to see the results across different commonly used codecs.

  • SOLVED! or at least I found out what is causing the issue. Would be great to get some other users to try to reproduce this on Windows and Mac platforms and see if this is an isolated case or not.

Note: Disabling the right-click pop-up menu could be an intended feature but given how often I use the right click pop-up in the Project panel I can’t think of a single reason to disable it.

Here is the Bug Report I submitted to Adobe

    Steps to Reproduce Bug:
    1. Set an out point in any sequence without an in point. The problem does not occur the other way around (in point without an outpoint)

    2. Try to right-click a sequence in the Project panel and you don’t get a pop-up menu with Cut, Copy, Paste, etc.

    3. Set in point or remove out point and you can right-click a sequence in the Project panel and have the pop-up options active again

    Results:
-Disabled right-click pop-up menu issue happens whether or not sequence is empty or has media on it.

-The issue only occurs when the active sequence tab has an out point set without no in point. If you click another tab in the Sequence panel with in/out points, in point only, or no in/out points and then the right-click a sequence in the Project panel, the pop-up menu is active again

-Has been tested in existing projects and newly created test project. Has not been tested in Mac OS X. Only tested on Windows 10

  • I have found that closing my timelines or clearing in/out points in the timelines seems to re-enable the ability to right click a sequence file.

I saw VirtualDub but I am working with ProRes files and converting to h264 which I don’t believe it supports.

Telestream’s Episode software’s “Split and Stitch” feature sounds like it could do the trick but it’s $5,994 price tag is outside of the budget.

Conclusion: No alternative methods found. Ended up just spending 3 days re-encoding everything.

I have Windows and OSX workstations so I can use third party alternatives for either operating system if anybody knows a non Creative Cloud solution.

  • I found the solution. It was right in front of me the whole time but I never noticed it until I was looking for it.

To select all the labels in a timeline that are the same label color, just right click one of the clips in the timeline of the color you want to “select all” for and under the label drop down menu select “Select Label Group” at the top above all of the color names.

  • The only solution I found was to trash my preferences file and restart. My too helpful since I lost all my preferences but so far it’s the only workaround I’ve found.

    @Mark Landman
