If your footage is interlaced leave it interlaced.
What you are seeing is just a preview.
You can change the playback to suite your needs.
Zooming in on footage is usually not a good idea. Don’t go beyond 110-115%.
However you can drop your footage in a sequence with a smaller resolution (1280×720), this will let you zoom it a bit more.

Auto Save overwrites itself after so many time (preferences).

Make sure all your temp files go to another drive.

You can export to uncompressed mov.
But you can also export to about any (compressed) format you like.

There are a couple of things you can do:
Clear preferences (hold down shift+alt while opening Premiere), empty Media cash and import project into new one.
