The vg1 is an external microfoon, are you sure the camera can record two external sources at the same time.

Use the Fill Left effect to get audio on both channels.

2014 is a seperate install. Its kind of an upgrade instead of an update.
CC and 2014 happily co-excist.

Pity you did not include the timeline.
Did you make a New Sequence from clip (right click on sequence (with the stacked clips) in Project Window and opened that on the timeline?

If you want it for dvd export to mpeg2-dvd, that will honour the widescreen flag. And no re-encoding as you would have had with mp4.

In the wing menu (right top corner) of the timeline you will find Start Time, this will let you change the starting time of the timeline.

I cannot remember which version but there was a time where you could move the clip in the timeline without dragging the mask with it.

The travelling matte is broken.
Nest the video and animate in the nest.
Add the matte effect to the nested clip in the main timeline.

Instead of nesting you can use the transform effect to animate
Postition and anchor point values need to be the same.

Set the Project Window to icon view, now you can hover with your mouse over the thumbnails.
Click on the thumbnail and you can set in and outpoints.
Double click and it will open in the Source Monitor.

Turn on Video Usage and Audio Usage in the Metadata Display of the Project Window. Then go to the clip in the Project Window you want to find on the timeline and twirl down the triangle for Video or Audio Usage.
When you select the playhead will be placed at that clip in the timeline.
Offline clips are Red not hard to miss.
