Well i hope they get it right in CS6 as CS5.5 support for Kona truly suck. I switched to Avid because of this as they nailed it right out of the gate.

Since i went with the Quadro 600 and GTX580, the base 850 watts is more than sufficient. I just found the 2 6 pin molex 🙂

Did you install both drivers for Quadro and GTX ??? According to Nvidia this won’t work…..so how did you manage to have both cards in the sam box ??? Thanks

    Hi Mr. Horridge,

Wow, your post just saved me LOTS of headaches. I was about to return the GTX580 until i stumbled on your post.

I need to put together a system to verify DCPs. The company suggested:

Realtime-playback requires two graphics cards: a primary device for rendering and a
secondary CUDA-enabled device for the JPEG2000 decompression.
    Minimum system specification
-Pentium/AMD Dual Core CPU (at least 2 x 1,5 GHZ
    -1x NVIDIA® GeForce® 200 series or newer / NVIDIA Quadro® FX 600, 580
or 380 LP or newer with at least 500 MB memory attached to monito-
    -1x NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 570, 580 or 590 with at least 1 GB memory

    I bought a Z800, 12 cores @ 2.66 Ghz, 12 GB ram….

As for graphics, i went with Nvidia600 and GTX580 but according to Nvidia, drivers from Quadro and Gforce cannot coexist…until i read your post.

    So could this work:

install Quadro 600 slots 2 and drivers then GTX580 in slots 5, but do not install the GTX driver and make sure to enable BIOS for GPU. Will thi work ???

Also, i’m confused about powering the GTX, the card comes with a 6 pin to 2 x molex that i connect to the Z800 ONLY molex connectors, now as for the 8 pin power connector on the card …where should that be plugged ??? Thank you so much for your help.

    hi Jeff,

Do you have any other suggestions besides RaveHD ?? Spectsoft seems too fishy, i emailed them 4 times and still no reply. I can’t imagine dealing with such an unreliable company.

Btw, i downloaded your demo and it crashes quite a bit. I was using it with a 12 core Z800 and Win 7 pro. Any idea ?? Thanks

December 5, 2011 at 2:42 am in reply to: HDcam native codec

    Jeff,

Not sure i follow you here. Are you saying that one needs 3K and above tools to handle HDcam directly ?? Why as HDcam is not even 2k ?? Is data recorded on an HDcam a proprietary CODEC from Sony ??

I assume what’s on an HDcam tape is simply digital info, so coudn’t this be transfered to to a hard disk bit for bit ? Just like DV, DVCpro HD…

September 25, 2011 at 1:57 am in reply to: multi channel audio output via Kona 3 from Macpro, FCP and MC

    Hi Shane,

I did exactly that prior to posting the question. Once i have enabled multi audio tracks in FCP sequence settings and click OK, it tells me that my card does not support multi audio. I suspect FCP sees the K3 as a stereo device.
The Macpro also only see the K3 as a stereo audio output device.
