The K3 has 8 AES out but for some reason i can’t seem to access it from the Macpro…or is this at all possible ???
Basically i’m reconfiguring my edit suit and would like to output multichannel audio from:
1- my Macpro
3-Avid media composer
Any suggestions ??? Thanks
Macpro 2 x 2.8 ghz, 12 Gb ram, 8 TB raid 0, K3, StudioComm 76/77 monitoring with 5.1 and stereo digital inputs and analog outs.

FCP…yes. Avid…no. Currently the only third party hardware available for Avid is the AJA IO Express and the Matrox MXO2 Mini. So your K3 will not work.
And yes, it will work with FCP…you just need to make your sequence output multiple channels. Go into the Sequence Settings, AUDIO OUTPUT tab…enable the amount of tracks you need. And then map the audio to the specific tracks.
here, I have a tutorial that shows how to do this:

I did exactly that prior to posting the question. Once i have enabled multi audio tracks in FCP sequence settings and click OK, it tells me that my card does not support multi audio. I suspect FCP sees the K3 as a stereo device.
The Macpro also only see the K3 as a stereo audio output device.
