October 23, 2011 at 3:37 am in reply to: Sony Vegas Pro 10 and Sony Vegas Pro 11 …..differences ?I have no idea how anyone’s getting smooth multicam editing. For me the quality in multicamera editing has gone down from 9.

It’s going to be a while before I can afford a second computer, unfortunately. Otherwise I’d be there with you and keep a separate computer for internet stuff.
I know the internet and computers are big places, but Vegas should work.

Even 10 is quite buggy and crashes CONSTANTLY. I’m going to reformat everything and reinstall Windows 7 soon.

In my opinion, no, it’s not worth it. Logs of bugs and loss of functionality. I was hoping to take advantage of GPU acceleration (which I couldn’t on my Radeon 6870, even though Sony’s website states on a chart that very model and how much faster processing is with it), the NewBlue 3D titles (which slow Vegas to a crawl), and to be able to use the latest plugins with programs like Boris.
3D seems to be the main upgrade, and I hate 3D. So it’s pretty useless, buggy, and crashes (though 10 does for me quite a bit as well). The stabilizer function crashes at 99% for me, and you have to create your own subclip for any clip you wish to stabilize-no more right clicking and Vegas asking if you want to stabilize the entire piece of media and create a subclip for you.
If I didn’t know any better and was offered 10 and 11, I would think 10 was the upgrade. Well, 9, really, since that rarely crashed for me-as soon as I finish the projects I have on 10, I’ll be rolling back to 9.

October 21, 2011 at 4:49 am in reply to: Sony Vegas Pro 10 and Sony Vegas Pro 11 …..differences ?No idea, Bob. I found several bugs/issues, especially the aspect ratio problem where Vegas 11 changed the aspect ratio on all my media, to make 11 almost unuseable. The only reason I really want 11 is to be able to utilize new plugins, effects, and new stabilizer controls. At least I have Vegas 11 for when these issues get fixed, but from my perspective, Sony inserted bugs, slowdown, and changing the aspect ratio on my media-thousands of clips, not recognizing my graphics card which Sony explicitly lists as one utilized by its GPU acceleration and lists by how much my model accelerates performance, make it a waste until fixes are released.

The stabilizer would just crash at 99% for me. I switched back to Vegas 10. Though sometimes that crashes every two minutes, it’s still got more functionality for me than 11.

I highly recommend it, though Vegas 10 crashes fairly frequently with footage I converted to avi on it, which I’ve read is because Cineform and Sony are somehow indifferent to each other’s new software. After I finish my current batch of projects, I’m probably switching back to Vegas 9 (and I just switched back to Vegas 10).

Don’t bring in projects into 11 that you’re continuing. You do so at your own risk, which I learned, and I’ve heard other people recommend. It’s still got bugs and you’ll be stuck with it, which you may not want if you’re using the trial version. That is, unless it’s a project that isn’t important to you.
What are the specifics of the project? And what kind of computer are you running? I’ve been speaking out about all the problems I’ve had with Vegas 11 and have already switched back to 10 until those problems are fixed. Looks like you may have found another one. Report it to Sony so that, hopefully, they’ll address it if it’s a bug in Vegas with their next update.
At the rate I’m at, I wish I just stuck with Vegas 9. I got 10 as a $300 deal that would let me upgrade to 11 for free, and even then, it’s not worth it for me. Not yet.

Yeesh. So maybe I’ll sell my Radeon and my GTS.
