I believe the work around is to use a shape layer and then fill it and use it as a luma matte rather than using a mask directly on a layer.

Well your motherboard will have a spec for RAM clock speed. Purchasing over that with no intentions on overclocking memory bus speed is wasting money.
If you have 1600 speed RAM or above currently, you may want to jump into your BIOS settings. 1333 is the standard speed so a quick change on bios may allow you to take advantage of the 1600 memory you already have.

What is your end goal? In my previous post I mentioned that rewrapping to MOV wasn’t needed because even if you converted audio (which I suggest you convert to WAV anyways), the fact that the video is h.264 precludes that you can’t trim your project anyways.
I would weigh out if converting your project to a codec that can be trimmed is worth the disk space increase in comparison to a non-trimmed project.

After an initial skim, the issue seems to be with audio support.
AC-3 probably isn’t supported by Quicktime without additional codec purchases.
Try converting audio to PCM (WAV, basically) with FFMPEG while re-wrapping. Increase in file size shouldn’t kill you.
AVC is h.264. Project manager won’t trim it without conversion to a different format. Pure rewrapping is kind of moot at this point.

Can’t say I’ve come across this.
– Check and see if this happens with other types of exports but of the same video frame size.
– Try turning off CUDA GPU acceleration for the project and see if you get the same issue. This is usually a sign that something is weird with your GPU drivers and things may need to be rolled back a version or two.

Yes, while there are techniques to avoid keyframing every frame (maximizing keyframe distance by breaking up one large mask into to multiple simple shapes), rotoscope work is tedious and exacting. VFX studios have entire departments dedicated to the process.

You could try a difference mask if the camera doesn’t move. The background shouldn’t, within a margin of error to account for video noise, change while any motion of the actor should be picked up readily. Rarely as effective as rotoscoping because difference masking will fail so easily.

No, you are creating entirely new frames and it will be lossy, even back out to ProRes.
The fact that you’re currently ProRes makes me wonder if you have an underpowered computer; not like Premiere to force a render (red timeline) for such a simple operation.
