Thanks. I’ll try your suggestions. It feels to me like a strange system wide OSX problem to wipe everything?

I wasn’t doing anything before shutting down yesterday except running a backup which I quit because it was taking a long time to repair permissions – seemed fishy at the time. It seems very odd that all the drives have been wiped across the whole system except the boot disk.

  • Try inverting the mask and/or swapping the layers over. Eventually you should see what you want.

  • Create a duplicate layer of your shot, then make a small mask on the original layer where the mike is to make a ‘hole’ looking through to the duplicate layer below.

Move the dupe layer until a patch of wall without the mike is filling the hole.

Deleted all the prefs including the folder and low and behold M100 started. I guess it’s the first thing to try!

    Thanks

    Thanks Floh

I did delete some prefs but not all. I’ll try that next. I can run M100 from an external FW boot frive that is a copy of my startup drive from a couple of weeks ago.

    A shame indeed.

The speed and simplicity of M100 and the power of FCP when you need it, all running on the same system with the same hardware. Perhaps
Media 100 nedd to rethink their strategy bearing in mind lost potential sales to the vast FCP community.

Compressor is really slow at certain things – I never really got on with Compressor the quality seemed a bit suspect with MPEG-2 I thought.

Actually I’ve found that Cleaner 6.5 will encode H.264 as an option in the QuickTime settings and it seems to work quite well.

Just heard from Sonic that the problem is with version 8 of Flash player

Here’s an article which explains why web links are not working on the Mac:
