This appears to be a problem with QuickTime 7. The solution is to go back to version 6 (there’s a link on the Apple site somewhere)The latest version of iTunes won’t work but this might not be an issue for you.

It might be fixrd in version 7 of AFX? Anyone know for sure?

Thanks for your help Jim – here’s the info I think you need.

The video clip that launches the URL is 6 seconds long. I put a 3 sec delay in before the web link launches so you have time to see the video before the web window appears. At the end of the video it’s set to jump back to a menu.

In eDVD the action is set to LAUNCH URL POPUP PLAY.

I don’t believe there are any basic issues with the Macs – all are G4s and have Tiger and play DVDs fine.

I’ll try the things you have suggested and report back – sounds like the delay might be the culprit. In which case I’ll move the chapter marker 3 secs in and take out the delay.

If anything else occurs to you I’d be very grateful for your thoughts.

I did reply to your post in DVDStudio Pro as below:

I’m burning the files on the PC using RecordNow and not copying them back to the Mac. As I said the disc works fine on the PC but the URLs do not open on the Mac. Very frustrating!

So to summarise:you can get most of the benefit of improved chroma smoothing by applying the FCP filters to FW captured footage and there’s no need to go to the expense of SDI out board for my DSR 1500 and a SDI capable FCP card?

DV black level not broadcast standard? This is an NTSC only concern I think? Over here in PAL land when I input DVCAM (via Firewire) into M100 the balck level from the 75% bars looks spot on at 0 volts.

Most of my stuff involves some working in AFX (or maybe now Motion) as well as the NLE and then importing AFX renders back into the NLE. I tend to produce DVD masters nothing goes out on tape anymore.

Would you therefore reccommend capturing via SDI uncompressed to get better quality after rendering in AFX? What codec would you render out with (Sheer?) and lastly, how much bigger are the files capturing using SDI uncompressed compared to Firewire DV – which I guess comes into FCP at 3.6MB per sec?
