    Hi !

I am working with the “Classroom in a book” guide to learn the program After Effects 5.5.

I encounter the same problem when I come to work with a audio file in the lesson number 4 !

The idea is to create a solid and apply on it an “audio spectrum” effect, joined to an “aif” file.

When I try to visualise the result, it gives me the same warning : After Effects error: opening sound component (-2166) 10 : 44

Even worse, when I want to rework the effect option, it doesn’t stop sending the same message over and over. I even had to force quit the program once.

I tried working with an mp3 and a wav file, doesn’t work either. I tried lowering the resolution, didn’t work. I reboot the computer, no change. I changed the sample rate from 44K to 48K and back, still the same.

I don’t know if it has anything to do with that, but I had installed yesterday some new memory (512 m) and I now have 768megs. The new component has a problem ? Or is it a kind of bug from AE, since I am not the only one with that problem ?

Thanks for your help, if any one can help !

Can’t help if we don’t know what your system consists of. Mac or Windows? Software versions? Sound card? etc.

This appears to be a problem with QuickTime 7. The solution is to go back to version 6 (there’s a link on the Apple site somewhere)The latest version of iTunes won’t work but this might not be an issue for you.

It might be fixrd in version 7 of AFX? Anyone know for sure?
