  • Hi Ron,

Did you ever find out how this was achieved in Particle illusion?

    Any pointers would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Hi Juan,

I highly recommend Pro video player. It works great on Mac mini’s and is so much more cost effective than Watchout, wings etc which are overkill for what you are trying to achieve.

Another option would be a laptop with Matrox’s TripleHead2go. You will need to create your video as one large movie file and play back using Modul8 VJ software or similar. Depending on the size/length of your clip and speed of you machine this might require some testing. I have used it fine on my MacBook Pro w/ 4Gb RAM.

Another option would be multiple machines and Qlab with the video option. All of the above run on Mac.

    Good luck.

    Hi Rick,

In the end I settled on hiring some Mac mini’s and running Renewed visions’ Pro video player. Luckily the client found some budget to purchase the software. It worked beautifully without any hiccups.

Another option would be to use Modul8, a VJ sofware which can also handle network syncing between multiple machines.

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for that.. The problem i’m finding though is that I have individual textures applied to each clone. Is there a way to keep these and only affect the transparency of the individual clones?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi Steven,

Did you find a solution to the problem with the point clouds being attached to the camera? I’m desperately trying to solve the same problem.

    Thx,

October 19, 2008 at 11:00 am in reply to: lock point to object?

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for the response. I have followed what you said, although it seems the setup is working in reverse for what I actually want to do. Maybe I wasn’t clear. Right now the Null is locking to the surface, where I actually want the point on the surface to lock to the null.. I actually need the point position to be an “in” port if you see what I mean? Any way to achieve this?

    Thanks,
    Andy

p.s: Goot to know though all the same 😉

    Hi Brian,

Thanks once again. I managed to figure it out from your email and now have a working setup whereby I can Lock a null to a specific clone which can be selected thru the nulls userdata…

I’m very new to Xpresso and really appreciate your pointers. I can see using expresso with MoGraph is openeing up even more possibilities.

    Cheers,

    Hi Brian,

Thanks you so much for the demo scenes. That’s exactly what I wanted to achieve. I was looking for a few “pointers”, but the scene file is a fantastic help.

Thanks again and i’ll be sure to post an example of this in use.

    Cheers,

October 7, 2008 at 4:19 am in reply to: Xpresso increment?

    Hi Brian,

I want the second object to be incremented every time the source object reaches 100 or more. For example position could be offset +100 units everytime the source hits 100.. Is that clear?

I just want some idea on where I might start trying to achieve this.

    Thx

Err Jethro, you’ve totally got the wrong end of the stick there!!

I was simply recommending a service I used to get me out of a pickle, athough re-reading my post, I could see how you might get that impression. I only recommended it because I know how long motion blur takes to render and we all face tight deadlines..

So just to clarify, I am NOT anything to do with renderrocket or any other render service whatsoever!!!.. In future I’ll think twice about what I write.
