Yeah the only thing I can really think of is doing a clone and using the blend feature inside of that, but I havent tried somehting like that, I usually just use it for creating smaller to bigger objects or what have you, but it might work.

Xpresso is a steep learning curve but well worth it, I dont even know that much about it.

Also another idea that just came to me is a clone effector, like take your clone and put a linear effector on it with the effector affecting the rotation, seems like that would be a sweet work around but itll take some tinkering.

That sounds strange, if you’re baking the objects movement then that should work perfectly.
Did you try emptying the cache from AE? (Edit>Purge>All Memory)

What are you wanting to do with the object? Are you animating something within AE on the object? Or do you just want that object in the scene?

OH YEAH, tutorial for C4D is here if you’d like.

There are ways to do it in c4d, one way would be an emitter with effectors on it. You would need literally millions of nodes to create the effect though, X-Particles for cinema renders a bit faster with your objects but I would still recommend doing it in AE instead of cinema.

If you’re wanting to create the effect in 3d space though, I would set up your scene in c4d with camera animations then use AE to create the effect inside of the effect and use cineware to bring it all together.

hmmm, I’d like to see a picture of the file tbh,
Also, this sounds like a job for xpresso, I’d look into that.
Do you want each rotation to end up in the same place after the animation is done, or do you want every object to end up in a different place when the rotation is finished?

    I would agree with adam!
Another way is the boole tool, adjust a tube so have the wavey effect then boole it with the existing cylinder.
That’s the fun of C4D is that you can do it with a ton of different tools!

  • UPDATE, found this workaround:
Select the Camera, open the timeline, go to Functions > Bake Object.

The issue I have is that I would like it not to be a static movement incase I would like to change the camera later on and have to do the copy paste crap all over again.

    Still looking for ideas!

Unfortunately not, I have one too and its great for AE and Final Cut but C4D is kind F’d for that ATM.

Read here for some extra help 🙂

I wouldn’t be working in PS at all for 3D in my experience it kind of sucks haha
What are you trying to do with all of this? animate in AE?
If you upgrade to CC, there’s a plug in with AE thats called Cineware and it’s a great tool to go back and forth with the files.
From there, I would have your object in C4D have the .psd so you can edit later… Is that what you’re wanting to do?

The 2nd technique here makes sense, why run around? ya know?
Tryout the new CC and the cineware plugin for AE, its really easy to use.
