You have to hit TAB after creating your favorite to put the focus back on list browser and then hit enter to access and rename.

Honestly, it varies based on project. Sometimes I’ll throw VO tracks into the primary and then cover roughly with connected clips. Then drop all the connecteds into the primary and trim from there (which pushes the VO into connecteds below.
Other times, I work out of clips in the primary and add pieces in as connected clips, sometimes throwing them into secondaries and sometimes even compound clips.
I find the process to be fairly fluid depending on the nature of my project.

Is it possible that you switched the viewer to play proxy but don’t have proxy versions of some of your clips?

In fact, you can just keep going by opening it up in timeline mode and then duplicating the audio track as many times as you want.
But what’s wrong with the gain filter?

You post a picture of the look are trying to achieve, I’m willing to bet I can get it for you without the glow effect.
Secondly, you probably only need a single 3-D replicator to do what you’re trying to do.

If your machine is underpowered in processor or GFX card, it could be the glow filter which is pretty processor intensive. I would recommend instead using two pngs, one smaller than the other with a ADD blend mode applied. You can even stack 3-4 of them together and get a pretty decent light illusion without using the glow filter.

Transitions are always applied at center between two clips. You can adjust how they are applied by adjusting the edit point. It’s one of the benefits of precision mode but there’s no straight “start of edit” “end of edit” setting for transitions.

You can’t have both versions on the same system drive, but you can save and reinstall 10.09 by zipping it up. I have all the old versions of FCP archived in this way.

Some transition effects require an A / B side clips. If you apply it to a connected clip by itself then FCPX will use the clip below as the B side.
To avoid this, you need to set the B side as a gap or empty space. You can do this by enclosing the connected clip as a compound, or by putting it in a secondary storyline and adding a gap clip to the end.
