appologies for not being clearer. the MM / 2GB limitation is specifically a network connected drive limitation and not a local connected drive limitation so if you connect your drive directly to your producers Mac, and MM from there, then you may have more success

Media Manager cannot “manage” files larger than 2GB .. its a bug/limitation, call it what you will, but it doesn’t work.
on the USB issue. USB2 has “peak” transfer speeds that exceed FW400, but “peak” is not what is needed for video work, Video requires “sustained” transfer speeds, and USB2 is just not able to handle these “sustained” data rates.
Sorry its not better news all round

thanks Mark, Chris and Jeremy
yes indeed, I’ve long been aware that colorist control surfaces were working with Color Finesse, Final Touch/Color etc, but the fact that they were also already working in FCP5 with the 3-way Color Corrector filter had completely escaped me!
color me surprised

Wow Raf
A difficult place to make a living to be sure, but it must be enormously rewarding.
We often have crews up in Cambodia, Vietnam, even Myanmar, but I don’t think we’ve done anything up in gorgeous Laos yet. I wonder if you’ve got any stories on your shelf wasting away? Please feel free to send me an email if you’d like, the address is in my profile.Yes. We’re working with XDCAM HD for our field aquisition, and using FCP5 for field production. For longer form work we’re shooting HDCAM and editing on Canopus Edius turnkey systems using the Canopus HQ codec which is quite spectacular.
Commisioned work runs the gamut of possible formats. Bottom line tho’, if a stories worth telling then you tell it with whatever youve got!
Cheers

[Borjis] “FCP 6 does now indeed save setups at the project level….right?”
Wrong (apparently)

a poster by th ename of Paul from Apple was kind enough to post the following over on the LAFCPUG forum:
[from Paul on the LAFCPUG Forum]
There are many smaller enhancements to FCP that weren’t covered in depth at NAB. Some of them are covered on our web-site, and others are found in the “What’s new” documentation that you’ll get with the software. For the most part, trimming hasn’t changed too much. There are a bunch of really nice smaller additions that we were demonstrating at NAB too:– Rename clips in bins to match files on disk. Or rename files on disk to match clips in bins.
– Normalize & Gain for audio
– Brightness controls in scopes
– HDV > standard def video output over FireWire (DV)
– Automatically set up sequence to match the first clip dropped in
– Easy setup filtering so you only see the setups you want
– Clips automatically scale to fit a sequence (SD to HD, HD to SD, etc)
– SmoothCam
– Log & Transfer interface
– Improved broadcast safe filter and new RGB limit filter
– Improved video and still gamma handling
– New FxPlugs
– OMF export with level and pan settings
– Surround 5.1 monitoring
– Speed changes preserved when sending to Motion
– SmoothCam properties preserved when sending to Motion
– Open format timeline (mixed) clips preserve aspect ratios and scale when sending to Motion
– Use ProRes 422 for rendering HDV and XDCAM HD sequences
– Enhanced render status bar tooltips -
or, in May, you walk in to an Applestore, or other shop selling Apple products, you purchase the FCS2 Upgrade box for 499, take it home and install from the enclosed FCS2 Upgrade discs using both the enclosed upgrade serial number and your previous FCS1 serial number

fwiw there is no implicit conflict with 10.4.9 and xdcam transfer
even so.. it does seem as if you have a conflict somewhere. try a reinstall or better yet a clean install perhaps

surely its the same thing tho…
first, import the edl into FCP
then select the sequence generated from the edl
then as above, no?
