In your FCP X Preferences window > Editing tab you’ll an checkbox option for “Position playhead after edit operation” … you need to make sure that box is checked, then it should work.

Did you try exporting some audio clips from FCP 7 with known audio levels (say -6db, -12db, -20db) and then bring them into FCX and see how they line up? That should provide some reference.

    Hey Luca
You realise this is the FCP X Techniques forum … FxScript plugins are not accepted here 🙂

You can use the Position tool (P) to place clip anywhere in your timeline as you see fit.

You probably just overlooked the last effect item listed in that collection : Flash … “A transition that creates various intermittent flash / lightning transition effects in between clips.” … thats the one that seems to do something along the lines of what you described you were looking for. But hey, Luca’s FxFactory filters are nice, but certainly if I were you I’d try Simon’s free Flicker filter first!

Aha. Maybe thats why your effects (and some others) don’t show up on my system Alex.

And yes, Brendan you should definitely put together some kind of webpage to collect links to all these effects you’ve been producing.

Personally I’m hoping that Apple provide some mechanism for creating encrypted Motion Templates in future.

  • Wouldn’t it be SWEET to have a video editing app with a super-flexible timeline that also understands DATA naturally? Rather than just a linear stack of fixed state picture clips and unconnected layer clips that have to be re-built, relayed, and re-timed endlessly in order to do the same basic construction each month?

    Whatever happened to xm/Edit’s Traffic?

What does pre-announcing support for OS X Lion have to do with being “slow” with FCP X?

You’ve right Ray, Matrox have no apparent interest in providing non-broadcast quality monitoring for FCPX with their MXO2, at least that seems to be the message, instead they are waiting for Apple to supply the hooks required for a proper broadcast monitoring solution. Apple’s statement “We’ve been working with third-party developers in our beta program to create drivers for Final Cut Pro X, and AJA has already posted beta drivers for its popular Kona card” is just spin … the supposed solution is just a preview quality scan conversion of the graphics buffer. You might get a better quality preview by using Matrox’s original MXO if you have one.
