Did you download the right codec pack? Should be version 1.8

The quick fix would be to first duplicate your sequence. Then open the new copy into the Timeline window and open the sequence settings (Cmd Zero) and tick the Anamorphic checkbox and click ok, next select everything in that sequence (Cmd A), then chose Remove Attributes (Cmd Opt V) and tick the Scale and Distort attributes and click OK. Now skim through and see if everything is as it should be … if anything untoward has happened (ie some intentionally scaled and distorted images have lost those settings then you can either recreate that from scratch or copy and paste frpm the original sequence and adjust as necessary.

Really? I would love to see how you managed that Chris. And I’m guessing that if it were an issue then you weren’t using a tapeless workflow?

There is no trick to it really, the Mac has inherent support for this. Just open your friends Chinese text file into Text Edit or some such and cut and paste into the text generator as needed.

That’ll work fro Canvas / Timeline playback Jason, but for Viewer playback you’d best open the Audio Mixer window (Opt-6) and use the mute/solo control there. Solo A3 by clicking on the headphone icon at the top of the A3 controls … see if that gets you where you need.

Anyone still looking for a handy way of doing this (or something more organic) with great ease should help themselves to Luca’s Flash Transition … Luca has been putting together a really nice collection of FxScript plugins these last few months and the Dual Flicker Filter and Flash Transition are especially good examples.

Is it possible you downloaded Sony’s Log and Transfer plugin (PDZK-LT1) and not Sony’s XDCAM Transfer app and support files (PDZK-P1)? The former extends FCP’s built in Log and Transfer interface so that it can be used to and rewrap clips from the XDCAM EX line of camera’s, the latter is a standalone app and support files that provides an interface to import clips from any XDCAM camera (including the EX line) either with or without FCP, and adds those FCP File > Import and File > Export components that were mentioned before.
Might be worth double checking as it would be an easy mistake to make. If you’ve not got the XDCAM Transfer app then head back to the Sony site and grab XDCAM Transfer 2.9 … you can get it here:

Yes completely tapeless up to a point … we still have a large ingest area with decks of every flavour, HD and SD feeds coming in etc but ultimately it all ends up on the server (and eventually deep archived to/through the DIVA).
How does one catalog it ? For large scale operations, not surprisingly, people with a specific skill set (Archivists, Librarians etc) are paid to do the job. On a smaller scale then you utilize those in your company whose job/skills most closely match the needs … just remember, a MAM is just a big database of metadata linked to your media, and that metadata needs to be relevant. Garbage In Garbage Out.
How does one find it ? As noted, its a big database. “Finding it” is its raison d’etre … just remember the Garbage In Garbage Out thing and you’ll be fine.
Storing footage offline? It males sense as and when, and the format depends on you. DLT is common.
What kind of MAM are you looking for? There are so many out there of every shape and size its hard to recommend without knowing some of those specifics that you’re holding back.
Have a look at Quantum’s StorNext Storage Manager maybe.
